Help pls (new car)

Hi guys just need some advice.. I have taken a look at a 1994 GSR. Its totaly stock standard. But the car has done 220,000kms... there is a small noice from the lifters. The guy has ownd it for 7 years and is now selling it cos he has got him self a evo7.I can buy the car for 4k.. will the KMs be a problem???????

Not sure about the kms, but the ticking noise is pretty common on the Mitsubishi's. Its just the lifters getting a little tired and clogged, it can indicate that the oil needs changing or that it hasn't been changed frequently.

for 4k is good. parts are cheap and common if something goes wrong

Agreed, $4k for a working gsr would be one of the if not the cheapest gsr in Aus.

However, 220kms is starting to get in to the 'iffy' zone depending on how it has been services etc. I have seen a few people mention that Mitsi turbo engines are good for 180-200kms before a rebuild is desired (not necessarily required).

Ok then i will take a mechanic and go check the car out.I took it for a drive the ather day and it was good. manage to get a RWC from the guy for a extra 200$ and the car is reg d till may 2011. Thanks Guys... will be needing more help doing the car up If and when i get it.

buy it and drive it carefully.....I have seen several at the amount of KMs and they are fine . flog it and it will die......same as anything else would

Check to see if the headgasket is leaking oil, external to the block on the corner closest to the drivers side headlight (common leak), doesnt mean your compression will be down necessarily, just an annoying oil leak..

Also how bad the synchros are... i dont mean flog it though..

These two issues are what i look for..

usually there is an electrical fault that stops the car...............................because a rod jumps out and knocks the alternator off!!

mines got 350 000ks on it and still gets flogged every day with no issues
