problem, car is idling at 1,5-2k rpm atm..just started with this hot weather. anyone know the cause or what could have started the cause? very annoying esp when you have a loud exhaust at the lights. any help would be great. cheers

Can you blip the throttle to make the revs drop?

Sometimes a sticky throttle cable or linkage can cause the throttle to stay at higher rpm than normal.

It could also be your idle stepper motor having a few issues.

.

most likley idle speed motor (stepper motor)

have you checked for air leaks?

something might have loosened in the heat

yea i havent checked for airleaks, any place in particular i should look? just anywhere near the throttle butterfly?
how much is a an idle stepper motor? also i have no idea where it is on the engine.

The Idle Stepper Motor is on the rear end of the engine (opposite side to cam belt). It sits on the end of the cambox on the camshaft closest to the firewall.

It should have some wires comming out of it.

As for price I am not too sure. Perhaps speak to an auto electrician about getting it reconditioned.

Here is a bit of info on Idle Surge from the DSM how to section. It may help you to diagnose your problem a little better.

Maybe your Idle Stepper Motor (ISC) has dropped a coil or something and is no longer functioning properly?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the CAS? And the ISC is located just below the throttle body.. ?

thanks mimmo_gsr for that site, looks like i gotta remove the ISC..the VR4, hyundai sonata or EVO ones will suit the 2litre right? i mean they are all the same engine..
