how can i tell if a ecu is chippable

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

from the research I have been doing into it, if it is a dual board ecu it is no good to be chipped, if it is a single board ecu it can be.

Thats my understanding.

multilayer board or single board, both should be chippable.
I have two GSR ecu's, and both have been chipped. One by myself.
It simply involves socketing the eprom chip to allow a burnt IC to plug in.

It doesnt matter how many boards it has, if it has an eprom slot, then its chippable.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but all of the 1G and 2G VR4 and EVO chippable ECU's are single board.

Sounds right.

Not all single boards have an eprom though.

Yep, but it does mean you can datalog though

Been meaning to get one since my chipped single board died (caps leaked, replaced them but it's still dead). Back to the stupid dual board, 450's and afm :(

Still haven't been able to try out my datalogger either :(
