as topic says, how many of you are using a gsr, vr4 or evo as a daily?

just bored at work and curious really

because ive always had a runaround car, but recently my runaround stuffed up to the point where its not worth repairing, plus its nearly out of rego.

Plus:
a) i dont live that far from my work (whereas previously i did and i wanted to avoid as many kms on the GSR as possible)

b) its underground parking which needs a security key to get in

c) i can put fire and theft cover on it anyway

Buy a bike!!

I have had a daily for ages- its primo cos you can thrash it without feeling guilty, drive up on curbs when you need to, park it wherever and whenever without worrying about it getting stolen, and they are twice as economical! I was getting 500+ kms out of a 40L tank on my old 5spd 4G15 EFI CA Lancer sedan (that I bought un-rego'd for $1000)

Still goes hard to this day. Battle of the shitters is fun too.

Ditto on my 91 Pulsar banger. Its great when you go to the shopping centre and ram the trolleys out of the way with it. The punters love it..

Manual VE SV6 Commodore lease car ftw. Just turn the key, put the petrol in and drive.

Too many idiots and morons on the public roads to risk over-exposing my Coupe to potential damage, theft or worse through daily driving. Better to leave it for the occassional sunny afternoon drive or track day.

I used to drive my lancer 600kms a week just to and from work (and another few hundred just driving around), and it did it no worries. In the end, it started costing me too much in fuel (~$180/week), so I picked up a daily bunky and never looked back. It wasn't just the savings in fuel, but service intervals were hugely increased, it didn't break/wear things out as much, etc, and I ended up with a heap of spare cash.

I work from home now, so don't really need a second car to get around in .. I've driven my daily maybe 5 times this year and even less in the last few months of last year. It's about to run out of rego and isn't worth reregistering, but I'm going to buy something new regardless - having a car that you leave anywhere and not worry about is awesome, even if I'll only use it two or three times a month.

My car does get driven every day though - I average about 500kms/week in it.

c) i can put fire and theft cover on it anyway
Why not comprehensive? If I didn't have full comp on my car, it'd never leave the garage!

i had boobs for a daily for a little while, but ive got a civic vti coupe now. Its about to cops some tasteful mods too...

Yeah, my last was a heap of shit, I'm gonna raise the budget a bit this time around. I was looking at EG hatches, though I think I'm gonna find something I can tow the lancer with.

I drive my GSR every day, if it isnt going I ride my bike, or take my G/F's car. She has the daily, it sits in the station car park all day everyday! 86 KC laser auto, GHIA so central locking and shit etc! Bought it for $1500 on the road, added pwr Steer, has had a few issues but the pick a part wreckers have always had the bits needed to get it going better. It is great when going to the movies or just the shops in general, don't have to worry about dents or it getting stolen! (thanks to my nifty imobiliser  )
My GSR has over 300,000kms on it now and as far as I kno it has never been opened up or had a turbo problem, so I dont hava a problem with adding more klms to it.

falcon company car and r32 skyline for dailys because the evo is race only

the skyline keeps me happy enough though

Because Full comp for some of us can be up to 2 n a half grand!!
Its B/S!!
How old are you guys? At 22, I was paying $1300/year, all mods listed .. funnily enough, I'm still paying the same these days though

My gsr is my daily, i can only afford 1 car (childcare wages rnt that great!)so it may aswell be one thats worth it, and hey i didnt spend so much on a car just for it to sit in my garage, which is why i like myne looking stock ish. i only live less than 1 minuite from home anyway so i ride my bike when weather permits. :) its great living close to work.

75 Series Landcruiser ute + work fuelcard. = Daily.

Carry anything
Tow anything
Including the VR4. :):):)

VR4 probably will never be my daily, last one was my daily and it broke near constantly from the general abuse plus keying, dints, etc... all bad. Cruiser has bullbar + brushbars + steel tray = ram anything, drive over gutters, etc. Much better :)

New VR4 will likely be way too wild engine wise to daily around.

my vr4 is my daily, i would like to get another shitter as a daily but i cant afford 2 regoz. on the other side of the coin though i like driving my car regularly, my wallet doesnt though lol
