I'm about to start looking for a 4 bolt rear end for my vr4, Don't want to find one and pay top dollar to then find out I got ripped off!! So I was wondering if any of you guys know how much they are worth?

Thanks
Sam

i got a heap of complete 4 bolt drivelines off SSS in sydney for 1k.. nearly 1.5 years ago. heard their asking nearly 2k for them now.

Wow, those typically go for between 350 and 450 here in the states with the axles, cups, and the diff of course. I wonder how much it is to ship them 8)

Waaay Too much!

I look up Fedex and UPS and they both came in at around $1200US for shipping alone

Adelaide Jap sold 4 bolts for 1k the last time I asked.
4 bolt LSD's are $1200

I got one from them not long ago for $1100. Mine is LSD.

I dont understand why ppl get the LSD....

For rally/drag?
The stock diff aint that bad is it.
I got the W5M33 box from the 4 bolt setup....
whats the box worth in good condition.....?

People are under the impression that you need the LSD to get power oversteer in a vr4. Course that's wrong, but hey.

Other reason for 4bolts is the thicker rear driveshafts so they don't shear off during hard launches (drag).

3 bolts supposably start breaking once your car starts to 12's.. not all the time but they will

usually on the launch

4bolts = security of not breaking
also most come with viscous lsd

thats about it..

I broke both my rear tailshafts under medium boost (16psi) while having a good solid crack at blasting up Arthur's Seat (essentailly a hill climb). I was coming out a 10km/h rated (for your ordinary sunday driver) corner, atleast that is what the sign said. Once my Aspec came onto boost, bang !!! And a whole bunch of front end wheel spin as well has a whole bunch of clunking from the rear end. 4 bolts are a worthy investment. LSD or no LSD. Just for added piece of mind that you have 4 bolts hold you together instead of 3...

open rear diffs suck, with a rear lsd the car turns much better under power.
It's not that the open diff is 'bad' per se, but more that the lsd improves the driving experience by a marked amount.

But it's much easier, and far more predictable with an LSD rear end (i've got a plate type 3-bolt from an 88rs).

Ditching the 4ws helps no end also.

Locked centre diff also makes a big difference.

I'd recommend the lsd and 4ws removal to anyone. The locked centre is more of an....

...aquired taste
