How to log on a laptop???

As in subject i need to know if i can log the car without using pda but instead using laptop.

If so what software should i download???

I already have datalogger cable with a computer plug.

Please Help.

yeah it was a while ago

it was few days after i got the car lol

i can't log!!!!

it says "port already in use" after everything is pluged.

is it because my computer????

Check the following:

1. You have the right com port - maybe have a look at your bios to see which one it is.
2. I'm not sure about this one but make sure the logger is set at the appropriate speed (hz/baud) - 9600 at a guess
3. Disable other software such as palm "hotsync", GPS logging software, Mobile phone "sync" software and anything else you can find that could remotely have anything to do with your serial port.

If all this fails try running 'msconfig' and doing a diagnostic startup.
