Hay guys

A few people asked "How do they remove the glass from there side mirrors" so I thought I'd write a quick How To...

So here go's. Remember to read it all before you try it..

Ok the glass has 6 mounts. Two clips at the bottom, one clip on the left side, one on the right and two hooks at the top...

Step One :

Once you have the mirror off the car.. Push the top of the glass in as per the pic below so that the bottom of the glass sits up as far as it can..

Step Two :

Now apply a bit of pressure with your thumb as in this pic and place a flat head screw driver under the bottom edge of the glass, The center seems to work best! and gently pry the glass up.. It will just pop.. The lower two and the two side ones will all pop at the same time..

Step Three :

Once you've Popped the lower section of the glass, gently lift it up with your hand as high as you can.. It moves fairly easy and will get to a point where it just stops.. Heres a pic for reference..

Step Four :

Now to unhook the two top hooks grab the glass along the bottom edge and pull it straight out at the angle it stopped at in the previous step, but wiggle it a little from side to side as you pull it and it will come out fairly easy...

Heres some pix to show what it looks like under the glass to give you a bit of insight before you start.

Tip for installation :

To make installing the glass back in a little easier push the bottom of the mechanism in so the top of it sits high as per this pic.. This helps when slotting the hooks back onto the bars at the top..

Then it's just a matter of lining up the hooks on the bars. Push them on, they sort of clip on !! Then lower the glass down till it sits onto the mechanism. Then with both your thumbs push on the glass around where the two lower clips are and it will clip the 4 clips back in...

That's it, Pretty easy !! ...

Hope this helps someone out

Cheers guys...

Thanks for that, I was actually wondering about this, got some carbon fibre covers for my mirrors and wanted to pull them apart and spray the mirrors black before I stick them on.

If you need to change the electrical guts over, you actually have to remove the plug off the loom, then slide it through the hole.
For some reason when they made these mirrors, they didn't make it as simple as you would have expected lol

Not a problem guys. Have fun...

Also... The GSR's 3 pin plug does fit through the hole !! The EVO 1-3's 7 pin plug does not fit !!

Yeah you could but it would have to be a pretty big hole. Easier just to pop the pins.

Yeah exactly the EVO 1-3 plug doesn't fit through the hole and the connector would have to be removed !!

The plug itself is actually a 7 pin plug but it only has 5 wires. From what I can work out you could get heated mirrors as an option so I assume that's why there is two extra pin slots.
