Hi All,

This looks like a good place to spend some time, and get the opportunity to meet some new people!

My name is Jaime, and I live in Kew (Melbourne).
Ive been a car enthusiast for as long as I can remember (which seems to be quite rare for a girl).
Ive driven a lot of different cars throughout my life. Among my favourites were my Falcon XA GT (great in a straight line, but watch out for the bends, or cross winds). My HQ Premier with a fully balanced 327 and tunnel Ram. Great showpiece, but really shocking to drive (anywhere). My Porsche 928 (great to drive, but #$%@& expensive to maintain).

I've been the proud owner of an Evo VIII MR for approx six months now (hmm it must be almost due for a service!).

I love the car! It's great to drive... in any situation... around town on a trip.
But particularly good to drive on winding mountain roads. Which is definitely my preferred place to be, in the Evo. Its the best car to drive, that I have ever owned. Full stop.

Its not my daily driver, so I still get that thrill, after I jump into it, after driving my HiLux to work every day (Im sure you understand what I mean).

Ive done the servicing and maintenance on (most of) my cars in the past. However, I get the Evo serviced at Tech Sport. I have done some small things on the Evo since Ive had it Defi Gauges with a Colt Speed in dash mounting panel. Vortex Generator. Mud flaps. Carbon fibre mirror covers. JVC Bluetooth head unit.
Mechanically, the car is stock, but it is running 22/23 lbs of boost. Which I am told (by Matt Lowth tuner) is not standard. As the VIII MR is manufactured with a boost inhibitor and produces approx 15/17 lbs of boost (or there abouts). So this has been removed.

Im contemplating what mechanical mods I will have done on the car. Probably start with a 3 exhaust. If I can figure out the best option (there seems to be so many exhaust options!).
The car is still running on the 100ron (JDM) mapping. I wont get it re-tuned to 98 until I get the exhaust done. Matt Lowth told me that its running pretty well on the current map. The knock sensors are not working overtime (after a dyno run and diagnostic at RE Customs).

Im not planning on getting much done (mechanically) to the car, as it goes pretty damn good now! And I dont intend to track it. I guess Ill just see what happens.

Ive set up a website with some photos of my car (and some other info) at http://ozevo.net

I look forward to meeting up with some of you guys in the not-too-distant future
Im going to go on the Xmas cruise

Nice Jaime, good to have you onboard.
How many KW is it making?
I assume you are running it on 98octane aswell? I think 100octane is accessible down your neck of the woods.
Get some pics up!

~180 KW ATW on the second dyno run.

Yes, 98. Apparently there is some 100 around, but not sure where. I'll have to investigate!

I do have some pics up!

(you didn't even look, now did you :p)

Impressive list of cars, love the MR ive been eyeing them out for a while. As Deano said, member ride thread so we can track this car (noone ever leaves their cars standard hahaha)

Welcome to the club Jamie :)

Welcome! I have seen your car once on Johnson St Abbotsford- plates give you away!

Grey is my pick of the colours! How do you like the 4cylinder turbo 4WD compared to the V8's? When (and who) managed to make you jump ship over to Mitsi??

I drive along Johnson St a fair bit. Next time you see me, flash your lights!!

Yes, after deciding on an VIII MR the colour choice was easy. The 'medium purplish grey mica' is the best option.

It takes a bit of getting used to the lack of low down torque in the Evo and having to keep the boost up to get the perfomance. But the Evo is by far the better car to drive (now that I have learned its attributes).

Porsche's are an old mans sports car.
Evo's are for people that love to drive their car!

I've always admired the Mitsubishi Evolution. It took no convincing me. I just came to my senses.

The 928 is a money pit and in the end, the expense of owning it outweighed the joy in driving it.

Had the brief chance to say "g'day" on the Christmas Cruise, Jaime. It was great to see the car in the flesh on-the-move on the way down and close-up on the pier.

Cheers!
