Greetings forum, I'll just introduced myself as the new owner of the Black 'Venga bus' RVR HSG that was for sale on this forum a month ago.. It made the drive from BrisVegas to Canberra just fine a couple of days ago, albeit with a slight gearbox overheating issue that became apparent when I pulled into Goulbourn for a pit stop..

While in Brisbane I had to have the Uni joints replaced and had a small amount of fluid leak when I removed the drive shaft, didn't think much of it (ignorant to the fact that the T case and Transmission are separate and take different oils -_- )

Anyway.. I want to Refill the Transfer case fluid but I'm unsure of what oil to go for... While in repco today, after a call to Penrite, the sales assistant came up with the recommendation of ATF MHP Semi Synthetic Automatic Trans fluid to put into my transfer case..

I wasn't quite convinced..

As this car was well maintained by the previous owner :) I'd much like to continue the trend..

Should I try and source some OEM Oil from Mitsubishi? or will I be paying for it with a vital organ?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't had to replace it yet in my RVR.

But I have in my Lancer 4WD.
I've put in AMS Oil MTG 75W90. In my gearbox as well as in my transfer case.
In my limited slip rear diff I used AMS Oil Severe Gear 75W90. An specific oil to be used for Limited Slip Differentials.

I suppose the same oil could be used for the RVR.
It's a great quality oil. But I don't know if they sell AMS Oil over there.

I wonder why they would advice ATF to put in your transferbox.

Just picked up some Nulon 85w-140 Gearbox & Diff oil (20% oils @ Supercheap) .. Hate to be spoon fed  but is this a viable/GOOD option for the T case?
