Well now i have done my intercooler piping i was thinking of ways to prevent the heat soak over the exhaust manifold.

Now heat wrap isn't going to be much good on an evo manifold.

Don't really want to spend the $$ to ceramic coat it as i may go an fp manifold later.

Someone suggested to me to used a sheet of matting like what you can buy to stick in motorcycle mufflers and stick it in between the manifold and the stock heat shield, before bolting the heat shield back on.

The only down side to this is it could soak up oil and cause a fire, but id just have to keep a close eye on the valve cover for leaks.

I though of putting another heat shield on top the stock one but i want it to look neat and stock looking down there. Would work though!
And wedging one under the stock on might rattle.

Also more heat kept in = more energy for the turbo.

Anyone got a crafty idea?

117 pages  ill start sifting!
Any clues? toward to start or end?
Pages 60-61? It looks great. It acl heat shielding by the looks? Its good stuff but i was trying to think of ideas to keep it stock looking.

I dunno i have this shit idea that if i make everything look at boring as possible when the cops pull me up they wont sticker me.
I should just go and make everything shiny, I'm just scared of having to go for an emissions test if i get sent o the pits coz of the lumpy cams. And it costs a fortune over here for the test. They put it on hold for a bit but last i heard they were back to doing the tests again.

you could put it on the underside of the stock shield as you've said. it's not that thick.

You got a vented bonnet don't you? You must be able to see the amounts of heat that come out of it!! Is that why you want a heat shield??

Don't laugh but Alfoil food wrap works a treat! Just put 6 or 7 layers of it under the stock heat shield and it helps a lot. :)
Sorry but HAHAHA! i shouldn't laugh though, your the man running 11's!

To clarify i have the stock heat shield, and bonnet vents, i just want to get heat soak down. Especially with my Aluminum intercooler pipes going over the top.

The heat shield is off atm untill i do a few things, but i before when it was on it was still pretty hot.
So i'm thinking of ideas before i put it back on.
I was thinking of getting the acl stuff underneath but though it might rattle, but i guess if i get it really tight on it probably wont. or i guess i could just go a whole roll of Alfoil as long as you can see it.

Found a pic of DOUGMO's setup:

just for a bit of background on the idea of my sheild.

it sits right under the vents in the bonnet and ducts the heat straight out of the holes.

seems to do the job ok
