Idle Surging

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

thanks khubner. well im sorry i didnt point out the issue for you in the first place. your welcome:) sounds like isc issue although also check that your throttle closed switch is connected and working. 6 bolts have theses 7 bolts dont and the difference is this switch onn our motors was replaced by the 4th pin in the tps. you can adjust the switch and may be your issue as if this switch is not activated when throttle is closed the the ecu will not know to use the isc to control idle. Pull the isc out and check the resistance accross the two coils as youll find info in above mentioned post. if values are wrong it fubar and youll need a new one.available on ebay or through mitsi. i got gen mitsi for 300. aus spec vr4 6 bolt and aus cc gsr are the same isc. some huyundai share part as well. if your isc and throttle closed switch are okay then check the caps in the ecu for leakage. your welcome

Ok this ISC you guys are referring to - this is what bolts underneath the throttle body where the water lines go into? Cause if this is the case - it has been cancelled and blocked off and tuned with it cancelled - this closed throttle switch you speak of Adrian is this located near where the throttle cable is located cause this has never been connected and was running fine. would faulty coil packs or spark leads cause this also?

no thd water lines dont go into the idle speed controller. it is close to it under the throttle body closer to the firewall. has a square plug going into it. 2x8mm bolts mounting it from memory. make sure you replace the o-ring if you change it. look up the idle speed control tnread mate its pinned!!! i think what you are talking about it the fiav which has water lines going in. they can be blocked off. what sort of ecu are you running? the throttle closed switch is actuated by the throttle cable. at least try it. failing that you should spend some time on here searching older threads.and remember you have a vr4 motor so maybe ask the vr4 boys or check the e38+e39 section as well.vr4.org etc.

Thanks again Adrian for the help - I'll buy you a beer next time I'm up in your area. Yeah ISC is not present it has been cancelled lol

UPDATE: Coolant Temp Sensor was the issue (I changed to a new OEM one) which was the issue - EMS requires it own CTS unit. I put in a new one and that fixed the Issue! Thanks everyone for your help.
