Hi guys

I'm desperately chasing an air-con compressor for the above. I have no power steering (not to mention air-con!!) til I find one. My compressor is so shagged that if we put the power steering belt back on to the compressor pulley the pulley is likely to fall off within a few kms : ( And I don't have the original pre-aircon pully/bracket to put back on to get my power steering back!!!

Compressor make: Mitsubishi

Model number: MSC90C

Part number: AKC201A201B

Compressor must be in working condition.

My whole air-con system was taken from an import GSR front cut. Although Mitsubishi ordered 'the right compressor to fit' I found out today after waiting 4 hours for them to fit it that it does not actually fit and there are no new compressors to suit in the country.
I've also done a search of Qld wreckers and no-one has the right part number compressor in stock.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Cheers

Paul.

Thanks mate - I've emailed both companies.

I'm just really hoping that someone on the forum has the right compressor laying around from a front cut! A long shot I know!!

Cheers

You can run the power steering-only belt.

There is no pre-aircon specific pulley, its the same pulley but it just runs a longer belt and has an additional tensioner.

Just run it from the main pulley to the PS pump, and use the PS pump to tension it, as there is allowance for that with the bolts.

Just dont use the bottom tensioner pulley that is used to tension the A/C belt as it wont fit.

At least that will get you around for a while until you can source what you are after.

Aus spec and jap spec are different

I have a japspec one that came off my motor when i did a conversion in my wagon, but i dont know how good it is, make me an offer

In the mean time you can use a CC 1.5-1.8 Power steering belt and bypass the lower tensioner and a/c

Hi guys - I'm still chasing an air-con compressor from a jap-spec GSR engine. Power steering issue has been sorted.

Compressor make: Mitsubishi

Model number: MSC90C

Part number: AKC201A201B

Has anyone got one left over from a GSR front cut???? After the reply's I got on the forum (thanks guys!) it now seems that this compressor was only fitted to Jap-spec GSR''s - not EVO's or any onther Lancers.

Cheers

Is it that big of a deal what the model number is? An A/C compressor only needs one wire to activate the clutch, and an in and out pipe for the gas, surely the fittings wont be that different, so as long as you get a compressor with a bracket that will bolt it to your motor (any 4G93 Mitsubishi car with A/C should be able to provide this) and the drive pulley will line up?

Mate - I really wish it was that easy! I've been trying to get this problem sorted for nearly 2 months - and I ain't doing this for fun I can assure you!I've been to both Mitsubishi and air-con specialists. Mitsubishi spent over an hour going through their parts system for me when they discovered the brand new Mitsubishi GSR a/c compressor they ordered in ordered didn't fit my system. Its not just a matter of getting the right mounting bracket. Some compressors use 4 groove pullys and some use 5 groove pullys (mine is a 5 groove) and the metal inlet/outlet pipes can have different fittings and also bolt up in different postions depending on the a/c compressor and pipe system fitted. CC Evo compressors are the right part number but have a 'B' at the end which means they don't fit my system. (I know this because this is one of the 3 compressors I've sourced that couldn't be made to fit).
The only way I can guarantee that a compressor is going to fit is if it has the same part number as my current compressor.

hi, just wondering what the actual problem is with your compressor? is the compressor dead or the pulley shaft has play and wear?

just a question. Is it possible to remove the 5 groove pulley wheel from your compressor?

let me know as i may be able to help you.
