i have a ticking noise in the area of the injectors, its not the usuall mits lifters but a different style ticking..... like a Ford 4lt tick.....

its just a tick and i havent felt any power loss

any ideas what it could be?

i was thinking maybe:
1: the seals are worn, so vac leak
2: injectors need to be cleaned

i have the same problem.
the noise comes from the injector and the sound is quite loud, and it's not the lifter as i already replace them with the 3mm lifters and also would like to know what the problem is????

could that cause my car burn a lot of petrol as i'm only geting 350 out of a tank and thats me driving normal

car seems to be fine atm no noise but comes ago goes....... i will proly change some of the seals cause i know they have never been done for as long as i have had the car......

By 'belting' the injector body I'm sure he meant tap with a little bit of force.

i dunno...... LOL

noise went away didnt touch anything, but i now have a bad batch of fuel....

I've got my VR4 down to 9.41L/100Km
and that was driving into the city Mon-Fri.....

I have done some tuning which helped get me there

How, please do share!!

Never knew it was possible!

Sorry i meant 9.41Km/L - thats 10.62L/100Km

Or 564Km per tank (60 L)

As to how, I put it down to:

1. "Careful" driving on this tank
2. Slip-streaming trucks on the eastern freeway
3. Going into work at 10:00am to avoid the peak hour
4. Running the "extended fuel maps"
5. Upping the timing across the board (too much as it turns out in a couple of places)
6. 98+ octane fuel
7. Knock count reset on lift of accel
8. Datalogger on for every trip
9. Not using cruise control/AC/Windows up
10. Coasting in gear above 1500RPM (no fuel used)

I plan on improving it even more by playing with the "lean burn" mod discussed in the dsm-ecu newsgroups.
I have also noticed approx 5-7% improvement with the cyclone intake.

ok found the stupid noise... i did a seal change on all my injectors and it fixed it up, also noticed i had a vac leak i had to chase down...... found out it was a welsh plug on the bottom of the Cyclone intake which coveres the linkages for the throttles..... if i didnt swap back to the ECI multi intake i would have never found the damn thing...
