i am looking to get some injectors soon, and i am told they need to be grounded or need the "head of the injectors spun down on a lathe from 14mm to 12mm" to fit the evo

does anyone know where do it this in SE melb.

Why not just get some injectors that fit?

anyone with a laithe should be able to handle that if required ziad.

im with dre though get ones with a 12mm top to suit unless you are still ahead of the 8 ball after the cost of machining

well the injectors come recomended and are about 350 for a set of 4... the cheapest 1000cc injectors i have seen are FIC 1050s and they are about 560+ plus postage from USA.... other jap brands are $700+ for smaller sizes.

by the time you sort them all out, you'd better off getting ones that fit direct.
+ all the mucking around.
Not worth it mate.

There are some fuel rails you can buy to suit the larger sized injectors.

If that is the path you want to take.

1000cc's? thats rather extreme? Whats your setup?

Just because they are large, and will fit, doesn't necessarily mean they will be good for your car. The spray pattern is important too. Injectors with multi pintles that flood the CC with fuel can be hard to tune with.

Denso injectors have a twin squirt style which is identical to what your EVO would be running from stock. If you can find a decent set of second hand injectors, the SARD 800cc injectors should flow enough for what you're after, for a few hundred bucks!

I get the feeling he's going to go E85 setup Dre, like most of the late model Evo guys are doing,
which requires much larger injectors.

well i want to plan for the future, esp with e85 coming eventually there is no point getting 700cc or 800cc injectors now only to have to replace them if and when E85 does come, as it is the stocks are running at 90%+ duty cycle and i am not happy that is on the street tune.
as far as drivability issue is concerned if setup properly there is non. there are two people running 1050cc injectors in melb that i know without issues. and countless more in nsw/qld. actually it was some nsw person who showed me these injectors and him and his tuner have been running them. they are delphi ones so are good. the only problem is that my WB O2 sensor is stuffed so i need a new oneto retune the fuel maps again, which means i am not sure i will be doing it in the near future anymore.

800cc injectors will be good for 350+ kw atw

not with e85 dre it has a burn rate about 30% higher
to get clost to 300kw you will need over 1000cc

but i have seen most cars with that size injector have a rougher idle than a car with properly sized injectors

E85 is meant to be like a 105 - 110 ron fuel...

Although the consistancy is a concern if you plan to tune to the limit.

Get some Indy Blue injectors - about 1500cc's...

1500cc wow that would be scary monsters :)

dougmo is correct regarding E85 injectors. i think matt said he was basically at the limit of the 1050s with a 20g and close to 300kws... but if he went any higher he recons he would need to do the engine and a new fuel pump with bigger injectors :) he got a stock evo9 with about 265/270 on E85 from 235 on 100ron shell vpr
