Having a look around on an inlet pipe as another option to the rubber one that sits in there standard and i found these listed below.

Apart from moving the battery which is obvious, does anyone know if any of these things will work with the stock cooler piping...? and....does anyone know or has anyone tried to fit the standerd airbox up to one over the filter..or would it require a custom airbox?

I have the FP intake Jamie and have owned the same intake as the other 3 that you posted. You are more than welcome to check out the specs on mine next time I see you mate.
For the other styles I would just get the Ebay version, waaay cheaper as long as it works with your piping.

You can even get an Evo7-9 one.
they fit.
They're all pretty good.
It will fit with stock cooler piping if you extend the recirculation hose. No drama, bit of radiator hose will do the trick, or some good quality silicon.
And yes custom airbox needed, stock will not fit where battery currently is.

This is the ebay version i purchased recently, i am very happy with it and it came to close $160 delivered. I have a vr4 but still had problems with my bov with stock cooler piping, i had to use atmospeheric bov because i was unable to find a hose that will recirulate, it was very frustrating i tryed close to 6 or 8 places looking for a hose.
