Intercooler piping for over the manifold

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Will you really notice the difference between if you run the standard EVO piping route or over the manifold?

I really dont know, but I thought that a shorter intake path was always a good thing. That said alot of guys get big HP from the stock path, but I want response not big HP.

From I have read though, the jump to the larger pipes is a real bonus, more so than the different route.

Here is how my car sits at the moment :(

I thought that cutting a nice hole into the radiator support panel was defect waiting to happen.. This is if i remember correctly thus on my previous GSR I had it run under, it all depends on pipe size and end tank entry/exit location.

But i am 99.999% sure that cutting that radiator support panel will get you a nice defect, though the support panel is not structural but, since it is removing re-enforcement it classified as non compliant.

But, it may be worth while finding out from an automotive engineer.

PS: I ran over manifold and didnt have any issues with lag, 2.5" piping.

Guys may I ask what sort of flange you use before the throttle body? My stock 4G93T one has a nasty bend in it and I need a straight one like I see on your pictures.

aiight, digging up old threads here,
im going custom..
what material would be best to use? Stainless Steel, or Aluminium?

Aluminum has much better heat dissapation properties compared to Stainless. Stainless is not the best choice for cooler piping as it retains a greater amount of heat.

The thin wall aluminum cooler pipes i have you can touch (without burning yourself) pretty much as soon as you've stopped driving the car.

Who sells those aluminium pipes Dan?

MEEK and Plazmaman.

I purchased some aluminium bends from a fabricator here in Melb and was going to get them welded up but in the end decided to go with the MEEK kit.

Any metal place should stock a decent variety of aluminium mandrel bends and tubing which you could tig (or have tig'd if you're like me and can't tig for shit!) together.

AHH see I didnt want the Meek kit. I want to fabricate my own.....I thought there might be an online store with just bends and straight pieces. I suppose I could try a metal place up here.....
