g'day mick i worked for allieds a few years ago and they don't touch the cars themselves they'll use a car cartage contractor.Hi Guys,
Im moving the car from Melbourne to Perth and the company I work for uses allied pickfords for its employee shipping.
Anyone used them before? Are they reliable? Will they take my car on joy rides?
Cheers,
Mick
g'day mick i worked for allieds a few years ago and they don't touch the cars themselves they'll use a car cartage contractor.
it was auto trans when i was there. in the 7 years that i worked for them i never heard of any problems with the car transport side of things.
as far as the removals side of things go being a big company they are on average better than the smaller operators but there's no guarantees.
i'd suggest making sure you have insurance just in case.
oh and welcome to the better half of aus !

Thanks Craig,
Thats a little more reassuring.
Almost everyone I know who has shipped a car has horror stories - clutch being completely burned out, panel damage, leaking fluids/hoses/oils - all fine before they stuck it on the carrier.
Im not sure about you guys but I'd feel like my car has been violated.
My clutch is brand new, wondering if it comes back worn if allied will replace it.......

Perhaps take timestamped snapshots of the speedo, both before and after? Atleast you could tell if the vehicle was driven an excessive amount to move it both on and off the trucks.....
Worthwhile.Yeh will do, and will also take photos of every panel on the car and inside.
Also, before they ship the car, the should be filling out a form, recording all existing damage/dents/chips/scratches etc on the vehicle, and require your signature. This is what "usually" happens with mine.
I feel your pain, with one of the companies that shipped mine a few years ago, I went to pick it up at the other end, to find it was some guys house. Not impressed. Luckily there was no damage.
