Is this normal for a turbo

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Well there goes that project. Got off the freeway and heard a ticking noise then it went away. Then was 1 street away from home and then loud ticking and then bang. Now have a hole in my block :(

Crankwalk!!!

Damn man, sorry to hear... go see whoever built the engine

Oh yeah prob wasnt a good idea to rev it past 7000rpm, the motors dont really like it unless its setup for it

Lol what mine spent nearly all of its shirt running life up there.... might back the revs of a bit now lol....

Mmm. So could that be part of reason for not boosting properly?
On the plus side I can now do the awd conversion and a little body work :)

The question remains open to.
Un register it and put a motor in that I won't bother engineering so use it for track. Or do I put a new motor in for everyday use. What do I go though

Should I go a 4g93t
Vr4 4g63t as I have lots of parts for it
Evo 4g63t
Or do an na monster.
Let's here some opinions :)

:/ shouldnt be the case i've been revving mine to 7k often and i havent had any issues 'yet' feel bad for ya man hope you get it back up soon.

Might be an easier and more cost effective choice to just buy a GSR or Evo that's already AWD ?
Sell off the bits you have to finance it??

That is true. People sell them for 3k on the other hand I do already have all the awd stuff it has always been a matter of time so no money need be spent there. It's literally a new block I need.

I'd part her out but be very sad to do that. On the other Hand there isn't much I can sell off really besides brake conversion gear box, seats I'm not really gonna get much for them

If I was gonna go a new car I'd go a vr4 I think. But then I've never been in a proper Evo. Food for thought I guess

BUGGER!

Id look at buying old mates stock $3K GSR in Melbourne (in the for sale section) and building that up and sell off the other parts like what was mentioned.
You could make enough for a nice build ;)

Dude. I was totally talkin to my mate about that. Grab a 4g63 block. I have head ect and all bolt ons. So just grab a block and re build that.

Nice Air conditioned block. I still think you should cut your losses and go on the mission for a GSR vr4 or Evo and sell what you can to pay for the build...Sometimes you gotta take a few steps back to go forward. Sentiments or not.

It is a hard choice. I've known a few people who have sold a car they live for something better and now miss and wish they never sold it.

As a shell it is complete but being a coupe not much value in parts. I'll look at the head over weekend and if it's good it's just a matter of rebuilding te block. Which I wanted to do eventually anyways. It is alot of thought.

I've come to the conclusion that it was crank walk. Wen I would put the clutch in I would hear the ticking. In a rebuild is there somethin you need to do to prevent cw

use a 6bolt setup as far as 7bolts theres not alot you can do if it's going to get it it's going to get it. theres alot of theories on how to prevent it but most are just that theories

Hmm. My current block was a 6bolt
There is a 7bolt for sale local. I'll keep my eyes out for a 6

how much boost was it actually running when it got going?
it looks like the rod bolts have broken and the rod has come off the crank all together?

get a block from a sonata, 1992-1998. can get them fro $150 ish if you pull them yourself. will need lower compression as they are a na. they are a vr4 based 4g63.
i thinking of a gt35 and 600hp from my sonata motor, come join the fun
