im not too suprised, they are only plastic

like my evo too...plastic

Are you talking about the pedal itself, or the whole assembly? I've only ever seen metal ones!

Look at how they're saving weight/costs these days!

 Plastic fantastic eh? Oh well, they should never have skimped and used a metal pedal thats for sure. Still, how many brand new cars get recalled for replacement parts or problems these days? Cheap Chinese made products I tell ya!!

this same thing happend to me driving a 01 porsche which was only 6months old at the time

you feel like nob with such a expensive car

thermoplastics are an awesome idea in terms of weight saving and they can take more than enough load to support a peddle. it's more than likely that they've had a bad batch. if molding temps are off, they actually become extremely brittle.

Did anyone ever think this is something considered for a crash impact???
just like your steering column is meant to collapse in a major crash... I know this might sound silly but if your engine was to push into the firewall or something the pedals are better off snapping rather than being made of metal and impaling into you legs or feet but then again you'd be pretty lucky to survive a accident if it was to that extreme... Im only taking a guess at this... and just on the topic of engines into firewalls someone told me another reason why EVO 1-3 weren't really allowed to be complied and registered here hence to the fact of them failing the set australian standards crash tests it was said the 4g63 plouged through the firewall in the end result from the extra weight of the donk, the fact of a weaker panels as the bonnet.... maybe true or not for us only getting the smaller 4g93 GSR version...
