Just a quick question, I've just bought an import J-spec engine for my A-spec vr4 but it didn't come with the loom or ECU. So I was wondering whether the A-spec loom will fit the new cyclone inlet manifold and whether my ECU will run it OK, or will i have to just put my old inlet mani on. (I haven't got my car at home to check the plugs on the manifold)

Sorry if its a bit of a noob question.

it should work

the only differences would include

1. CAS plug type vs loom type
2. o2 sensor if your not reusing your old one (4wire vs single wire)
3. ignition coil / ignitor (not 100% sure if they are the same)

you'll quickly find out when u start plugging things back in.

as for inlet manifold, it should work, the map might be different and not tuned for the cyclone..

besides that, the butterflies i believe are controlled via a solenoid? therefor the aspec would not have it in the ecu, u can get a keydiver chip that controls it.. otherwise you can have it left open so it'll be similar to the aspec...

I also am led to believe the butterflies are controlled via a solenoid (ECU)
The ASpec loom WONT have the correct pinouts for this (or code to activate it) VR4-Plays spreadsheet has the ECU Pin in question (i just carnt find the spreadsheet :( )

ahh OK, looks like I might just save myself a whole lot of trouble and use the old manifold. :?

Thanks for the help guys.

By the way what are the actual differences between the two manifolds in terms of performance? Am I actually doing myself much of an injustice by using the A-spec manifold?
