Hi guys,

I've got the JayRacing alternator relocation kit on my 6-bolt long motor, we had to grind a bit of clearance on the block and engine mount to get it to fit, but now I'm worried about how the lower mounting bracket could impact installing the intermediate CV shaft when I go to install it once the motor's back in the car.

Has anybody installed the JayRacing alternator relocation kit on a 6-bolt with the EVO CV-shafts and if so, was there any modification required to the lower bracket to allow the intermediate shaft to bolt up properly?

Cheers,
Shayne

OK - here's another question related to this!

How thick is the air-con bracket that sits between the block and the CV intermediate shaft?

Usually if people dont have the aircon bracket they use a few washers to make up the 8mm gap.
Ive used thick headstud washers from an old set of ARP headstuds to make up the 8mm gap on a friends 6 bolt engine block before without issues.

The bracket should be the correct spacing required (8mm). Not sure why you had grind anything? I didnt have to when i fitted mine... I have this kit on a 6 bolt motor too - Did you get the steel alloy one and not the aluminium alloy one - they dont last very long (ive broken two before he made me a custom one out of steel alloy - which he now offers as an off-the-shelf option).

I went with the steel bracket, but it looks to be alot thicker than 8mm!! The motor is not at home so I can't go double-check.

I'll get some shots of where we had to grind, it was on the side of the block where the rosejoint of the tensioner was close to the block and also on the engine mount when the belt was tightened.

No, never had AC in the car. I was thinking of hitting Pick-A-Part to scavenge the AC bracket off a Sonata if they're the same. Just need to measure how thick it is so that I can see how much I need to take off the alternator bracket.

Sonata use a 1 piece shaft on the passenger side, so I not sure if the aircon bracket is suitable.
I have heard 8mm is the size required on several different places.
You could mock it up on the floor, bolt a gearbox on the back of the engine and put a shaft in the gearbox and measure where it needs to sit. The shaft is pretty tight in the gearbox so it won't be hard to make it right.

Please post some pics of the parts to the kit, as I may have to relocate my alternator at some stage.
Cheers
