Hi guys!

So I just bought the rvr and I've fallen in love.

Dragged the misses ve ss that's about 260rwkw and was about 3/4 of the body behind.

She (the rvr) has a boost gauge, turbo smart boost tee, and a 4" drift pod filter.

Firstly I have an apexi pod I'd like to put in but don't know where to begin with sourcing a flange that will work.

Also I have about $4k to put into it to gain as many kW and torque as possible lol.

So I was thinking:
Walbro 255 pump I can fit. $120
Hd clutch I can't fit. $400+650 install
Denso 800cc injectors? I can fit
3" turbo back system I have the dump and I'll get the rest pieced together at the local exhaust shop

Spoke to a workshop and said they'd tune it with a unichip for $1850 and they'd tune to about 17-18 psi

And that's about where my $4k goes unless you guys have better ideas??

What sort of gains could I expect? Would you assume it's be faster then the ve? ( Just for rub in value for the misses ha ha) and what stops her from going to like 20psi?

She will be a daily but I'm a timid driver so she'll only see full boost if I feel like teaching someone a lesson. Ha ha

Also I did use the search thread but in my case with what's on it I'm just confused with the power gains I can expect and acceleration gains.

Cheers guys!

Firstly, welcome
Secondly, i would have to disagree with your choices.
If its pure hp per dollar i wouldnt be spending 1850 on a unichip. Can get your current ecu EPROM chipped which will do the job just fine at a lot less cost if your deadset on an ECU upgrade.
I would be suggesting a turbo upgrade as a main priority, get a decent one on there and you wont regret it. Can pick up a decent second hand GTP or garrett for about a grand. Get the exhaust/dump to go with it. I wouldnt be worrying about a clutch just yet, ive got a burson brand el cheapo and its holding a 16psi GTP turbo just fine with no slipping. Unless your launching one after the other itll be fine.
Pump definitely. Injectors might be able to get away with but if theres money left over id get em done if youre going bigger than 16
Please dont throw an open pod on. These cars are really shitty for heat soak and even more so if theres a pod breathing all that hot turbo heat into to shove it back into a turbo. Spend the money to properly enclose and insulate it.
As far as a daily, i wouldnt be going over 18 as youll start to heavily risk making a new friend on a stock bottom.

Oh wow thanks heaps!!

I was told by an Evo specialist in Brisbane that you can't flash that ecu and I'd have to source an Evo 5 ecu, so I thought it would have to be unichip.

Not just hp/$ but also something that will have foot mid torque too. Under 3000rpn I don't care... But I'd rather something that's spooled below 5k I'd you get my drift. Ok so enclose the pod is a priority as well.

At the very least I want something that will beat the misses as

I've already bought the 3" dump so it will have to be a turbo that can support the same exhaust flange as the td05h. I saw them cheap eBay td05h 20g but I've seen very mixed reviews on them.

Like I said I got 4k to gain a the very least a body length to 100km/h

Welcome mate,
When was the timing belt etc last changed?
That would be my first job as you won’t be moving fast if it bends valves if the belt slips/ breaks.

Buy a quality turbo, not a china one. Ive just come from a china turbo and man the difference between a 16 china and a 20g quality GTPumps is night and day, worth every penny. Ive seen a GTP712 in action with a cam and not much else and those things are scary.
As Brisvr4 stated, and a good point, is to start from a solid platform first. If the foundation is rock solid then you wont have any problems. If its not well thats when people start calling cars lemons...

They guy I bought it off said the timing belt was done 20k ago I should go through the receipts and there's a tone of them lol!

So with the 4k everyone thinks a turbo, exhaust and tune would be the way to go?

The car came with an exceedy standard clutch as it was slipping and I got that fitted so you guys reckon the clutch will be fine for a while? I'm not a clutch dumping guy. What about the fuel pump do they flow enough for the larger turbo?

He also said it has "stage 3 lifters" whatever that means... Like I know what lifters are but not sure about "stages" and where in Brissy would you guys recommend the tune? Do the got turbos have the stock exhaust housing flange setup? About would the 20g be the best option?

Ok so looking inti the GT pumps. Here's the revision of parts:

Gt pump TD05H-2010ET $1450
Gt pump exhaust manifold? $350 is it worth the ported manifold? Should be more responsive??
Exhaust $1000
Fuel pump $120
Injectors $250
Tune? Does anyone know if our eco can be tuned? And if not what's the cheapest route while still being safe enough?

I can stretch it and piss off the misses to like $4500 if I need to to get the best all round set up.

The factory ECU cannot be tuned, it needs an 'EPROM' chip put on the board to make it tunable. It will restrict what tuners are gonna be able to do it though, whether this is what you want to do or not or if you wanna get a haltech etc.
As far as who is the best to go to everyone seems to think that Next Up in rocklea is the man to see (i personally think his customer service needs a big improvement though)

Ah ok cool sounds like a plan. I've never seen this before.

Like. I said before I have my budget and I gotta stock to that amount. I'm have to EPROM the original ecu if it cuts costs. I'm not looking for a perfect tune just a safe around decent tune. It the EPROM is half the cost of the unichip and tune at $1850 but nets me 5kw less I don't care. It's my daily not a race track work of art. And much as I love the car i want the most out of the least.

So does next up install these EPROM chips?

Have a read through the rvr tech section and many of the questions you have asked are well covered already.
If you search hard enough...the name of the guy that does the eproms will be in there also...and... other factory ecu options etc etc

No worries thanks heaps. I do realise alot of questions do get answered. But as you'd know once you start a dialogue you might as well keep asking.

I appreciate all the help guys and I'll get onto the EPROM thanks heaps again!

+1 Jack.
With mine I did a 3 inch divorced wastegate straight through exhaust, evo6 ecu swap, 560cc injectors, 3inch intake pipe and electronic boost controller.
Huge difference! 250hp ish at the wheels.
If I were you I would piss that boost tee off first. So much gains to be had in response with and EBC. Will come on much harder and taper off less up high.
Then exhaust, make sure they are mandrel bends! Then see how you like it. You may be surprised....
If still hungry, ECU, Injectors, pump and turbo. I say turbo last because the big 16g can pump a fair bit of grunt out, once tuned and all.
EBC $250
ECU $200
Exhaust $1,200???
Injectors $300, depends what you are after
Pump $120
Turbo $1,000.
Have fun buddy.

If you are upgrading to a 6 ecu I wouldnt fuck around with an ebc at all.
Best way to control boost is with the ecu via a 3 port mac valve. Much more reliable and stable and can be had for $70.
Much less fucking around than an ebc.

Hi guys that's for all the replies. Social found a power FC on eBay for $375. I already have the apexi ebc sitting around from an RX7 s8. So I just gotta hook it all up and get it tuned. Exhaust will be a mandrel bend 3" system. Fuel pump and injectors. Gt pump turbo and manifold.

Hoping to be up around the 190-210awkw.

Well looking into it I thought I'd get more tune ability out of a power FC. And since I already have the apexi ebc sitting around wouldnt that result in a better tune?

I will be calling the guys from next up to see what their thoughts are but does anyone know if there still on break or are they back in action already?

Cheers
