I do know this has been asked 100 times over, but I want the opinion of those who own them, have used them and who may have had issues. I want to hear the widest spectrum of info on them as I can get

Looking to upgrade my TD04 to a TD05-Big20G as I have a manifold here and I need to pull my turbo out to replace some gaskets... so my thought process is, maybe it's time to upgrade...

A few things I want to know

1) If you've owned one, how long have you had it and how many KM have you put on it
2) Has it been reliable ie- No shaft play / issues
3) If you have had one and got rid of it, why did you do this
4) has anyone had any of them break or found any minor faults with them

If people could let me know their thoughts that would be great

Thanks

Edit to clarify, somewhat of the confusion I think people have

My current setup is the TD04
I have a spare TD05 RVR Manifold from a manual HSG sitting here unused that I'm looking to put in.

I pulled apart a new Kando Dynamics turbo and inspected and measured it up. The shaft was straight and its size was within Mitsubishis specs. The housing and bearings/clearances were within specs too.

Ran a big16g on my VR4, made 204kw atw on 19psi, ran it hard for about 6 months, then sold it to a mate, he has run it hard for a year and still fine.

Well brettu26... I need one of those Stupid RVR turbos.... and if you want a 20G... I sure could use the compressor housing and get it milled to suit a 20G....

I could send yo uthe VR4/Evo3 20G housing.... Might save us both some heartache

Hah, yes we did talk about them. It's not a case of trust at all. I treat my car like I treat my photographic equipment, buy once, buy right.

I just dont want to make the mistake of skimping on quality all in the name of a few dollars or make the mistake of buying something which is going to be a heap of work.

Having spoken to someone else today, and confirmed a suspicion of mine, I'll be looking at one or picking up an actual RVR TD05.

Thing is don't the hyper rvr turbos point down and the td04's point up like a vr4 and evo1-3 16g's.

So if you put a hyper rvr big16g on the car you will need to reroute the hotside piping. Whereas if you stick with a 16g made to fit evo1-3 (becasue you have a td04) it will point up in the same way.

My bad, Craig has an rvr and the turbo points up. Different again.

Why not ask kando, if they can do the 3 inch compressor cover and put the wastgate actuator on with the cover pointing down.

I was just looking around their store, they do a 2.25 inch intake cover that looks pretty similar to the 3 inch cover, but the smaller intake. So don't need to change to a 3 inch intake pipe.
