Hello all,

New to the forum, and looking for some help.

I recently got Low King Springs out of Australia for my GSR.
Front: KCFL36GSR
Rear: KCRL37

I understand what to do with the rear springs.

But the fronts have me confused, which side sits on the lower spring perch, I've heard that it matters which side is up or down but I can't tell.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

welcome

i dont think that i matters to much
- is there a difference from one side to the other
- does the ends look similar to to the stock ones

Whichever end where the very tip of the coil (end) sits comfortably into the groove/stop in the base of the strut to stop it from turning.

...they dont sit nicely in there either way up. I am about to reassemble some on the weekend and thats what ive noticed.

The springs fit nicely either way on the AGX struts i have.

However, it is very hard to tell a difference between which way is which, although from measuring coil to coil, the end with the smaller measurement, i used as the top. just installed tonight, will take some pics tomorrow and post.

Thanks for the help guys.

the letters on the springs should be read normally ie not upside down (KFCLxxx or something along those lines) when assembled.

also as evo00x mentioned, the coil ends are different on top& bottom, hence they will sit better on the strut with the right side up.

I don't think being able to read the letters matters. Because the rear springs are a no brainer to fit, with the closer/smaller coils fitting to the top of the shock mount. That's the only way the spring will fit, and right now that way means that the writing for the back springs are upside down.

Having noticed this, I installed the front springs based on some measurements I took between the coils, with the smallest measurements being used as the top of the spring, and it turns out that when installed the writing for the front springs are upside down as well.

springs

Pay no attention to which way the part number is written that all depends on which way they are loaded into the machine. As a rule of thumb where the coils are closer together goes to the top.
This is known as a progressive rate coil They are normally placed to the top to avoid the chance of stones being caught between the coils and break-ing the spring.

So basically if the old springs have an id (inside diameter from coil to coil) of 140mm (5.51") you will be sweet. If not you have the wrong springs.
