I'll ask you RVR boys as I know some of you would have experienced this common problem...
There's a knocking noise coming from front suspension area in what seems to be low outside the driver's footwell area when going over bumps.
I know a lot of people have changed sway bar links before and the problem either stayed or went away, and I dont think that to be the problem as I changed them with good 2nd handy's.
Just wondering of anyone else here has expereinced it and what you found to be the problem before I start venturing on buying new things for no reason

From out of left field i had this as well in the gsr.. checked everything suspension wise couldn't work it out.
Then i was checking my rakes one day and found my caliper slightly loose, this was the cause of the knocking in the front end.

bump stops
Tie Rod ends
and a majority of the bushes are the first place I look.

with my first RVR I had bad bump stops - (read none) and tie rod ends were shot. the noise was ungodly. I figure you're probably looked at all the suspension stuff though, so as What-Lag suggested, start looking at the more uncommon things!

same problem here,

its a knocking that feels like its right under the drivers feet. i've changed swaybar bushes to nolathanes, no change, rattled all the major suspension components up, changed tie rod ends and even changed the inner rack ends, no change. the knock seems to be getting worse.

i have noticed that if i touch the brakes the knock wont happen in my case.

i havent actually check the caliper yet, i was thinking it was the rear lower control arm bush now.

I know in outlanders if the front pads are getting low they will cause a knock over bumps... new pads and glueing the shims to the pads stop the knock

I put new pads in it when I got the car. I also checked the rest of the suspension when I had it jacked up moving it around and hitting with a mallet and levering with a big screwdriver. All seemed OK without excess play. I was beginning to blame the front strut, however I'm going to see if what T04Garret said about the brakes works. ie. if its knocking, quickly touch the brakes to see if it stops. If it does, then I'll suss out the brake caliper. Thanks for your feedback.

also check cv's. i know they usualy only knock under turning but i had one that made the whole car bounce like a misbalanced tyre. it wasn't till it exploded that i knew what it was

I've got a suspenion knock in my front left, Its my strut bush so I've been told (between strut and where it bolts to the car) so thats possibly somewhere else to check

If CDJ84 is talking about the strut top mounts, that was my issue as well - one was shot, and the other wasn't far behind (@170k km). I replaced them both, and that eliminated what sounded much like the knocking that EVO-00X is dealing with.

Now (nearing 180k), I've got a new similar sound, but much more subtle and definitely lower down, and as my brake pads looked like they had less than 10k left on them when checked at 170k, when the new ones arrive, I should be able to confirm to4 and chaser's suggestions.

it is deffinatly not the strut mounts in my particular case. i have had the front suspension out and apart and they are perfect surprisingly.

Check the castle nut on the lower ball joint, remove the split pin and give it a bit of a turn. That was causing a knocking sound in my car when the wheel would drop into holes.

i have a noise coming from passenger side suspension when i come on boost hard and then i will go round a corner and it will knock again like its going back into place...its really annoying

Changed the brake pads, had the brake system serviced, and the knock (the one I reported on above) was gone when I got her back.

So, new strut mounts, new shocks, new pads, and everything tightened, lubed, etc.

I'm sure the bushes will go next :p

damn.. am havin da same prob as well ere.. i hav change all da mounting gb/engine and it still occur.. will check da caliper soon..

I found what the problem was with the knocking in the front end of my UF Nimbus. The damn lower control arm rear bushes were worn.
Purchased a pair of new Nolathane items and it solved my problem instantly!! :)
See pic of the actual item and part number for UF Nimbus and I reckon RVR as well.
