have any of u guys got or had any experience with KONI, im looking at getting Koni adjustables for My Evo 1 RS, they are the white tops ( apparently). im after ur opinion on them.. as there is not much out there for the E1.. PLZ HLP :?

The best thing about koni's are down the track you can have them rebuilt, ie parts are available and most decent rebuilders have the parts in stock.

On the other hand i have a set of OHLINS which are great but not many ppl can get the bits for them, but they are a damb sight better then my konis i had.

There is a fellow selling a set of somethings? fully adjustable for about 1300 you should check out the parts for sale!!

on the other hand i have a set of GABs out of the 1/2 cut not sure how good they are as i haven't had a real good look at them, i know they are adjustable rebound (top adjustable)

Kayaba (KYB) have been supplying shocks for mitsubishi (and most other japanese car companies) for years. It makes sense to use their products because they're proven!!! Just like how daikin (exedy) clutches are OEM........

When I purchased my VR4 it had the black super specials in it (they're now in DjB's car) it handled alot tighter than what it does now, I can tell you that for sure! It must have come from Japan like that, kinda wished they were height adjustible though

A friend of mine had E3 RS Kayaba shocks in his GSR RS- man, that think was solid, you could take speed bumps at 80k and still not even bounce when you went over it!

I have Koni yellows in my Evo3 road car.. They are great. The suspension actually works.I took out Tien coilovers( far too stiff and the suspension does not work) I have used Koni's in my rally cars for years. My Navara ute has Konis and now done 500000km with them. I cant recommend them highly enough.

konis

Koni's are a good shock if the valving is right, just don't bottom them out or you will smash parts inside of them (spring choice and bump stops are critical). I have found that the standard off the shelf konis are allright, but after having them revalved specifally to suit my cars and my needs, they were great. This was on both an A spec vr4 and an 323 familia.

Although,,,,,,,, on my Gemini rally car, the rears required a reco yearly, A fellow gemini competitor has been using Bilsteins for the past three years without a rebuild yet. I have had the Bilsteins for one year now and won't look back (anyone want some koni's for a Gemini?), The Bilsteins have better traction, more travel and a softer and more controlled ride.

cheers

cheers guys,
