Hi all, my name is Ray and i am the 1st owner of a CC GSR. I bought the car brand new in 1993 and it currently has about 137,000 ks. I am currently thinking of doing some mods (about time !) however a few workshops i've contacted don't seem to be interested, saying you can't get anymore parts for that car, or it has to be custom made, and its "gonna cost ya ". Is there any workshops preferably on Brisbane's Southside anyone would recommend ? also i have the dreaded Roof Rust, any paint and panel shops to recommend? thanks

That's awesome that you have owned the car since new!
What mods are you thinking of doing to it?
There is a thread on here, partially titled, roof rust, where I have listed part numbers and approx cost of the parts. If you get them yourself, you can save a few dollars.

Hi im thinking of changing the exhaust, lowering the car a bit, changing the original bushes and either going for 16 or 17” wheels ( and eventually maybe an evo 3 body kit)

Low kms, completely stock, 1 owner GSR? I wouldn't think there'd be too many of them around if any!

I know they aren't exactly considered a classic just yet, but it would almost be a shame to modify it other than repairing the roof rust.

Hi vin18m, yes I don’t see anymore of them on the roads, do you think they will eventually become a classic seeing it’s not a evo ? Thanks

Hard to say if it will become a classic but there'd be some purists out there that would see the value in a car like that.

Most of those things you could do yourself? If you are handy that is...

Welcome to 4gtuner Ray. Throw up some pics of your GSR when you get a chance. An original 1 owner GSR would be a rare find these days!

There are a few spot welds along each side in the roof gutter and along front and back edges of the roof skin...front and rear screens have to come out first.
Then there is the glue between the roof ribs and the roof skin (which is what causes the roof rust to begin with) that you need to separate (scrape or cut) from the ribs and skin and Bob's your uncle it should peel away.

Hi evo-gsr from the picture i will need the 3 bows/ribs, do i also require the 2 Rails? thanks

I didnt when I did mine. I only needed to replace 1 of the ribs.
It really depends on how far gone your roof is....
From memory the ribs might not be available anymore...you might need to find a donor car at a wrecker if that's the case.

Cutting the front and rear glass out-

Put car out in blazing sun, wait until its hot. Then cut the urethane with fishing line. Use the steel trace stuff, solid not the braid.
All these modern adhesives- heat is your friend.

Or a windscreen guy...
