Hi guys just a simple question.
I have a 4g93t pretty much standard (standard internals).

My question is can I have a launch controller set up and use it without blowing the engine up or harming it???

Cheers guys.

No, a lauch controller wont destroy your car..how you get off the clutch while using a controller dicatates what damage is done...and how quickly

In all honestly, you can get off the line in a mildly modified car better with your feet than a launch controller

are you looking to build boost through the use of a controller.....if so the get a chip done with launch in it. razza does one in NZ

yeah mate i wanna build boost through it who is razza????

anyone recommend a launch controller???? not to cheap but not too dear.

get the Bee-R limiter, pretty much the cheapest around and does the job.

No, it wont blow up your engine. just dont set it too high and sit on it for too long :p

jump on youtube and type in "bee r limiter" and check out some vids, it will give u an idea of what it is and how it works at different rpm levels.

dont be worried about blowing your motor, when i had the 93 in my GSR i was doing 7 grand launches just dumping the clutch, did that all the time over and over agian and it had a few mods to it

so i think you should be fine in that sense

a bee r wont work as a launch controler, its just a rev limiter.

if you set it at 5k it will bounce off 5k and not rev any higher.

what you want is the car to bounce at around 5k give or take and then when you take off for revs to then increease once grip is achieved.

Mike Dale in SA can do this with a chip apparently and once my motor is rebuilt im prob gonna get my ECU tunned by him and ditch the emanage. Will get the launch control as well :D

what do u think the Bee R limiter is for? just to shoot cool flames? its a launch control system lol might not be the best but "its cheap and does the job" as i said in my original post. only other thing you could prob use it for is to warm your car up in the morning lol, set it to 1200rpm and floor it for 5 mins lmao.

this is a bee r limiter in action on a GT4 celica..

im guessing you're talking about the bee r limiter? if you set it to 5k thats for launch, once you launch id say you hit/release a button (usually its set up to the hand brake button) and it switches it off...

isnt a rev limiter only for when the car is in neutral...?

so when you release the clutch.. the bee-r shouldnt work anymore...?

thats what i thought anyways..

Meek.com.au have a stutter box launch written in a chip.
basically when its zero road speed will let you build boost while stationary then launch it on almost full boost.

+1 for Mike, he's the man when it comes to ecu's - he's blackvr on the forums

Those beeR limiters are over 300 US. Why bother on such a standard car you could upgrade other stuff to make the car faster without giving the clutch such a hard time. And have more fun more of the time.
And stutterbox on a chip will do the same job and you can upgrade other things while your at it.
I have stutterbox on a razza chip apprently the older version, it builds 6 psi.
Seen on damos car with stutterbox put on with an ostrich and it built 10psi. Sounds awesome to, more like antilag. Mine sounds more like hitting the hard limiter.

you can pick up a 2nd hand bee r limiter for around AUS$200

obviously even that would be a waste of money on a standard car but 347-dis asked for a launch controller so i answered his question and recommended one ;)

a bee r limiter can be setup to only work while car has no speed, or set to only work while clutch is depressed, so then the factory limiter is used. there are other two stage limiters that can do launch and normal limit also.
setting like the launch control can be added to factory ecu's at times. but a chip tuned without the car on a dyno can be create issues too.

Yes Mike and I have done some testing with the launch control feature in the rally car.. it is Awesome!

Pretty much its a 3 stage limiter, that increases rpm with wheel speed, so as to manage wheel spin (nice combination between spin and drive).

It starts at 4500 RPM, then 5100 etc....

It also has a antilag feature, so that aswell as limiting revs at 4500 it also fires the antilag, so you get pretty decent boost from standstill..

here is an incar vid of it in action..

not the best example, as we had a few other engine drams that had it right down on power, so it was still boggind down a bit, but on normal engine power (and especially with out a restrictor) it is very awesome..

definatly worth giving Mike a call (0417 083 682) or sending blackvr a PM.

cheers
Lewis

i do have a excdy sports clutch. seriously guys being honest just sounds cool and a wanker factor which doesnt worry me lol

iv had the launch control on my car and it worked good in the short period i used it lol i had it hooked up through the microtech using the hand brake to turn the feature on.my tuner told me not to use it as it puts stress on the motor and turbo
