Hi guys, great forum you have here, I've done some reading and its been a great help.
I'm in Canada - which is turning out to be problematic for a number of reasons. 1) It's bloody cold, and 2) We drive on the right hand side of the road and the steering's on the left hand side.
As you probably already know, if you drive on one side of the road, you need headlights that are made for that side of the road, or you end up annoying people coming towards you on the other side. You probably also know that there's no LHD Evo I-III.
So what to do? I've spent a lot of time looking, and have some ideas:
1) In the thread about projectors on this very board, it seems that the 97-00 Subaru Impreza (which was sold here) headlights are at least very close in dimensions. I'm in the process of verifying this right now with someone who has a Scoob, but if it does turn out to work, it will probably the best way to go - you can't beat that kind of hipster irony. Has anyone here ever tried something like that?
2) The Mitsubishi Mirage, which as far as I know is what you guys would call the "CC", was sold in the USA, but apparently not in Canada. We can get parts for them fairly easy (USA/Canada == AUS/NZ) but the cars themselves are not very common even in the US. I've never seen one up here, and I've already found out that the turn signal lights are different and will not fit on the Evo. The parts a not cheap so if I do end up having to get them, I want to be sure they fit.
3) What about the various Lancer clones from SE Asia? I've never seen one, no one here has ever seen one and there are exactly 3 people including me in the entire country who has ever heard of Proton, so this is going to be iffy.
4) Some kind of bastard projector set up. I've had a look into this, and those things are just the epitome of wankery. I would rather avoid this if possible.
I'm not in a big rush, as the whole headlight thing isn't really enforced very much, the local constabulary have better things to do that scrutinize people's lights. OTOH since I'm not a douche, I'd like to have the right lights for the benefit of my fellow drivers.
Guess I should be glad it's not a Skyline - those guys need to use some ridiculous setup with old early 90s Honda Accord headlights that look awful. The poor sods.
Thanks for any insight might have.
