So I'm going to be putting a new set of lifters in in the next couple of weeks. Will be ordering revised 4g93 lifters from MEEK, but was just wondering if the lifter removal tool he sells will work with the 93 head? It's only listed as being compatible with1.6L, 2.0L and 3.0L heads on his site.
Just wanted to make sure before I put an order in...

That's what I thought!
I just ordered it anyway, for $35 can't really go wrong.
I'm sure someone else on here will find a use for it when I'm done...

Can use flathead screwdriver but I figure whatever makes it easier.
I'm definitely not pulling the cams out and doing the timing again...

So the lifters and tool arrived today, I just went and checked the tool on the old GTi head and it should work fine - even though it doesn't have cams fitted it looks like everything clears as it should. Which is good news!

One thing I noticed is that the lifters in the GTi head have the larger oil holes like the revised lifters I have. I know I never had lifter noise with the GTi head and never had the lifters replaced as I've owned the car since new. Also, it's a 2000 model which is the first series motors so it's not like they could have changed to revised lifters later on.

Can't remember what the ones were like that were in the head that's on the car, will find out soon enough though...

did you get a chance to try the tool on your lifters? im about to by the lifters too and wondering if i should get the tool or not?

Yep, happy to offload it for slightly less than what I paid to help out.

If you can wait till I get my ass into gear and do the lifter change...
