Hey going everyone,iv been told you can get 3kg flywheel to suit Gsr and Evo is that correct and would anyone know where can get them from, thanks

Not sure about gsr. But Evo u can get through upper cheap auto I think. I remember coming across it when I was looking for a 6 bolt flywheel. Which they don't have. Grrr

I had no success in getting a light flywheel for the gsr (1.8), they (not ubber cheap) have a listing in the book but was told they are not available anymore. All that was available was the "moly" version that saves two fifths of f**k all weight, for the expense I passed on that.

Yeah. The vr4 has a wider flywheel. I'm currently doing the ggsr. Which they didn't do. Only after did I realize it still cleared the bell housing. Ha ha ha. Next time though :p

You only need a lightened flywheel when u go a special clutch :)
93's are fine with the standard flywheel and a good clutch!

I currently have a fideza light weight flywheel to suit early evo. Everything is forsale at the right price.

Iv got an 4g63 with. Gsr box iif it matches might consider Lister. What's the oem flywheel weight anyways of Earley Evo would anyone know

If u have a have Gsr box with a 4g63 engine then do u need a 6 bolt 4g63 flywheel is that correct?

Ginani thanks for replying man I dono Ay, I know it got Evo manafold and intercooler all that, but my rocket cover is vr4 100%, meek said it's Evo motor but for certain I dont know, alot of people tell me differnt things, would I tell with my engine number

Well I'm about to buy a 4g63 wit Evo head but vr4 block. Honestly I don't know how to tell unless the gearbox is off. Actually. If u take the aluminum shield off which is between gear box and engine (from under The car) u should be able to see the bolts. Mark bolt one then turn the engine around by hand and count till u get to the start :) vr4 is 6 Evo is 7 bolt. Gsr galant is 6 but smaller flywheel :)

lancer gsr and evo 123 flywheels are the one and the same vr4s are different., another way to check if you have a vr4 or evo block is by checking the sump under the timing belt cover. run nyour fingers along the sump if its smooth it a vr4 motor, assuming the sump is the original. if there is a groove its a 7bolt. you can do this check without removing anything from the car or motor.

Thanks Youda I'll check that out aswell, so if I do end up having a Evo block can i use Evo flywheel with my Gsr box and is the Jspec Gsr box the same as the aus

When u go buy the flywheel. Just compare the diameter. I'm sure the only difference is the bolts. I thnk vr4 is 225 or something. Maybe that's the clutch. I can't remember. Ha ha ha. The vr4 fits in Te gsr lancer box. If Evo is smar diameter it will fit too :) or get an Evo ox :p he he he

thanks Gianni , Youda i checked the sump underneath the timing it has a groove but just to double check i was looking at the correct place i took the photo of it you can also see the groove in the photo IMG_0138.JPG

so what do u think boys is that the groove is it evo block ?

cheers in advance

after some extra thought i had a lancer gsr gearbox bolted up in my vr4 with no problems. the only differance is if the flywheel is a 6 bolt or seven bolt. at least the only vital differance anyway. (this only aplies to turbo models. n/a and fwd may be a completly different story.)
looking at your picture tells me it is an evo block or at least sump anyway.

Thanks Youda Gianni I have clear understanding now, so by visual shows an Evo block and doesn't affect my driveline being Gsr, so if it's vr4 should be 6 bolts and Evo 7 bolts cheers guys much appreciated
