Hey All,

This may have been covered many times before but I'm after some direction on what I can fit under my EVO II guards.

This is what I'm looking at....

GTCFACE1.jpg

Volk Racing GT C Wheel 17x8, 4x114.3

Volk Racing GT C wheel has forged 2 piece construction, standard 5 spoke design, and signature dimpled spoke. Comes with a 17x8 wheel size and 4x114.3 bolt pattern. Available in many offsets, please select them below. Wheel is available in Spark Silver, Gunmetal, or Mercury Silver.

About Manufacturer: Volk
Rays Wheels of Japan is the manufacture of Volk Racing wheels. Volk Racing has a unique 1 piece forged wheel design that has been proven in competitive racing worldwide. Volk has many popular applications for most Japanese and European vehicles. Volk Racing wheels will enhance your vehicle to the next level.

I'm still trying to decide on the colour (prop the Spark Silver) but the offset is where I'm currently stuck.

What offset can fit under the EVO II guards with that size rim?

Offsets Available
16mm
22mm
28mm
31mm
35mm
37mm
41mm
43mm
47mm
50mm

I'd love to be able to get the 31mm offset with the 17" x 8.0" rim.

Any help is greatly appreciated and No I don't want to put a set of Tarmacs on the car.

Cheers
Dion

i dunno.. they look like too much is goin on with those rims. something a lil bit more simple

That's fair enough.

A mate of mine showed me a photo of these on a White EVO I/II/III and they looked fkn porn.

That's MINT.
Speak to JAP63 about offsets and wheel clearances etc.
He's our expert :)
Also try a search Dion, wealth of knowledge around here mate.

Nice rims!!

I have the older style ones (CT-Pro or something) on the AMG.

Fell in love when I first got them.
A bit old school now but still a unique look.

Whats the retail on one of those?

Dion,

It is rear control arm clearance which is one of the biggest issues, then followed by the rear bar tab (now solved thanks to an EVO-00X post).

I remember reading somewhere that 17x8 +35 fit with a few mm rear control arm clearance. So that being said the 31mm will be slightly better; but worse off for the guard clearance. The 17x8 +35 fit in the rear guards, but I am sure that there was/is some lipping involved.

Thanks everyone.

I can't take credit for this wheel choice as it was actually a mate who chose them for his GSR but has decided on something else and when he showed me the pic I was like OMG I want those.

My question still stands about the offset, I have tried to search for it and had no luck. I must be searching for the wrong thing

Thanks Tim so you think the 17 x 8 with 35 offset is best?

My guards have already had some extensive work already - rolled and pumped i beleive

I spoke to a mate with a 180sx with some 17 x 8 +35 and I'm going to try them under it

Sweeeeet Dion!!! GTC's have always been a crowd favourite - one of the best looking wheels on the market. Something in a white or a bronze would look hawt under your white EVO II.

Without seeing an 8" wheel on an EVO before I'm thinking the +35 offset may be too wide dude. You may have to drop to a 7" rim instead. Take some pics with the wheels on your car and show us dude! :)

the only thing is they're fk'n expensive! And almost impossible to find second hand, when you can find them in 4-stud and in the same width!

goodluck on your quest though!

Sorry to crush your buzz, but 8 wide @ 35 will be a no-no if you want the car to be lowered even a smidgeon....its gonna be a problem.
This problem is accentuated more so on an Evo, since the track is wider than a GSR again.

I ran 7.5 + 42 and it was a case of getting rear camber arms, running around 1 deg neg of camber, rolling the guards and it still after that contacted occasinally.
8 wide @ + 35 will be even worse...youll need some real stiff suspension, or completely pumped guards/wide body if you want to lower the car.

BTW i think the wheel on the GSR are K-Speeds, which are a copy..you can get them alot cheaper form Tempe than buying real Volk, if youre just after the look....Plus they come 7.5 wide.I considered them for my III when I had it..

also, heres a pic of mine with a bit of camber with 7.5 +42
This setup had my wheel out 23mm further than stock, the setup you want will be 35mm, picture this wheel out another 12mm.....

do you have to run coil overs to run 19s Jap63
Definately, I had K-Sports. I needed the ability to adjust the height, plus i wanted something reasonably stiff too, the spring rates were on the money.
