Alright guys;
Bought a 2nd galant for a runabout and theshifter has ALOT of slop in it, mostly side to side... Pulled the cover off, and there is no bushes at all.

Looking at it; i'm considering putting fibre washers on the inside/against the shifter itself, and metal washers outside that. The fibre washers should then crush and take shape of the larger diameter of the shifter (might prevent up/down movement), and metal washers take up the side to side slop...

Reckon it'll work? Better solutions (other than the expensive OEM bushes?)

Think I might just try this and see how it goes.

Give them a buzz on the phone, it's best to call in the morning they almost never answer in the afternoon because the phones ring off the hook.

Dunno if Bron still works there, but if she does I'm sure she'll hook you up. I'd be suprised if they didn't have any sets left. Mine were under 20 bucks delivered and took all the slop out.

Ew. maybe you just bite the bullet?

less you ahve a spare shifter assembly sitting around in which case it wouldn'tmatter much what you do to the existing one.

3 copper washers and a spring washer later... shifter is HEAPS tighter. Greased between the washers on both sides to allow it to move.

Check these 2 vids out from my old evo:

I was looking at the RHD site this morning.

65 bucks plus shipping

I know that EVO 1-9 are the same, not quite sure about VR4. Maybe someone else can confirm.

lol Bob what are you smoking over there pal!!? :eek:

I quickly searched for some replacement ones from the states and found some at JNZ tuning and it says:

JNZtuning.net said:
Fits 1990-1999 (1g and 2G) Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, Plymouth Laser five speeds. Kit includes metal bushings, metal shifter sleeve (except '90).

That doesn't automatically mean the EVO ones will fit though..... so this is probably another useless post... :p
The only way to tell would be to compare or try- or just do DIY like to4garret did....! Red Bull this time! :lol:
