Anyone know where I can get some conical shims for the EVO 3 rear diff

Ive been given prices of 180 each and 90 for the plates each

Troy

part numbers of diff bits would be good, with exploded view of diff!

Have you asked Mitsu fpr prices? If not, give Tim Zimmerman an email with the part numbers to see what price he can get them for you ;)

was thinking about ringing him tonight! it is way easier to call and explain exactly what I want and I can give him my card over the phone and get them asap!

or Jacks Transmissions

Yep, give the both of them a try for that sort of stuff IMO. They live and breathe it :)
If its OK by you, can you let me know how much they charge incl postage when you find out.
cheers.

I had these laying around in a box of bits in the shed. no idea if they are of any use to you?

Theres two of the MB160497 and a complete spacer set MB241903.

I think they are front LSD shims and diff/crown spacers for horozontal positioning

the numbers I'm looking for are MR195402 x 2

Ok just had a chat with an engineer, explained the problem and sent pictures etc.

One suggestion he gave was , why not reshape the spring you have? for the amount of force required for the preloads i need, there wont be a huge conical deflection of the shim required

He gave me a heap of formulas and stuff but he then said maybe just reshape then check the peloads and use that as a baseline.

http://www.shimrestackor.com/Physics/Stack_Stiffness/Shim_Stiffness/shim-stiffness.htm that was one of the pages he suggested I read.

pretty straight forward really!

so tomorrow I'm going to make some dies and press the old springs and do a preload test.

he also said don't use heat as it will anneal the shim and it will flatten to quickly.

which also makes sence.

what do i have to lose? it will either work or not - (small steps grasshopper) I dont want to see 100ftp preloads

Spoke with the guy that I said I would, he reckons just replace the two Belleville washers with new ones from Ralliart. And for your purposes, he reckons about 30 ft/lb preload would be about right.
He is sending me the factory workshop manual bit on the lsd and I'll forward it to you. He runs lightweight shockproof with friction modifier at a ratio of 7% in his diff.
