Went to fill the manual box and transfer today and realized they arent as straight forward as i thought and thought i'd better ask.
I see both drain plugs which are obvious, but the fill holes are a little less straight forward. For the xfer case i imagine the rubber bung on top is the fill hole? How do you tell the correct level with it if thats the case? Same with the box. Theres either a rubber bung on top or a bolt on the front of the box (which seems too tight and too small to be a fill hole maybe?)

Yep, bit of a prick job. The rubber bung on the transfer is a breather, so its a definite no go.
As far as the gearbox goes I always just fill with the front of car raised with a funnel and tube until it starts back filling, about 2.4litres from memory. Same deal with transfer except for quantity obviously. Don't skimp on quality of fluids either. If you use cheap **** you'll feel it.
Have fun mate.

When the car is sitting level the fluids will be full when they just start to dribble back out of the filler hole.
I'd use Redline heavy shockproof in the transfer case. Good insurance!

I thought the gearbox might have been the front bolt, but wanted to be sure. Ill have to have another look at the transfer though, and look harder for that front bolt didnt see it first quick whip over. (mind you this is all still with car not jacked - managed to do the diff with ease on the ground...) Thanks for the info guys.
