I dont know if this one has been posted up yet, however I saw this story last week (it even featured on today tonight Perth).

Basically a contaminated batch of fuel is being blamed for some engine failures. It leaves a film of white powder in the exhaust pipe, and it is also smells very sweet when filling up and from the back end (when driving).

The story also showed some plugs which had eligibly been pulled from a car which had this contaminated batch and they had massive white powder build ups...

Yep. We thought we had got some of this stuff in my mates 7 ....

seems to be ok though. And didnt have the white residue on the plugs/exhaust.

"Should their mechanic suspect a fuel issue, motorists should inform the petrol retailer they bought their last tank of fuel from", who will probably tell them to get f*cked.

pretty much.

i work at the servo, and unless we get 5+ people in a row coming in saying our fuel fucked their car, we'll just record the 'incident' and get on with our lives.

That said, because my petrol station is located in the northern region where the suspect fuel is apparently located, we're getting our fuel checked by a third party company.
