I have a friend{yep a fully paid up friend} over here that has an evo 3 box.......the ratios seem very close . it now needs bearing and synchros but might need other stuff as well

when he got the box from Malaysia many years ago he was told it had a "rallart close ratio gear set fitted" question is....did such a thing actually exist or is it more likely to be something else.....adelia or another make

There was a different gearbox option available, it had a magnesium case. Have no idea what ratios existed though

No such thing....
Now.. what is his phone number???

LOL

I know Ralliart gearboxes are just std mitsu evo3 gearboxes...
I had SIVART make some calls.

not sure why you want his number but here you go... work 08 474 0444 ask for Red Lyon

Im just reading the Evo 1-3 FIA homologation paperwork and it appears there is 3 gearbox options.. the standard RS (or normal Evo 3 box, which is still availible brand new from Ralliart)
There is a X-TRAC 6 speed H pattern dogbox, and also there is a Hollinger/Getrag 6 speed sequential box that is homologated..

That is what I have heard..
but where can we get it from?

I was only kidding Brian.
I've been chasing an evo3 box for a while now..

that's OK mate I thought you were that's why the number is for the perth zoo:p

I know of one over here that has been lunched......I haven't had a look yet but might get it for a good price......should I talk to him for you?

lost drive after high revs hard change into third gear. now you can put the car in gear and push it.....ideas ?

Roll pin on the selector?

Hey Baz I can give you the details on the brand new E3 RS boxes if you like? Or are you after one of thoes xtrac or getrag doggies ;)

After playing with different EVO and GSR boxes, I reckon its most probably an EIII box using a mix and match of gear ratios between different EVO/GSR gearboxes. If it had ever killed a gear or shaft in its lifetime its possible "RALLIART" just supplied EVOI taller 1st/2nd arrangement (thats what Im currently doing to my own EIII box with the addition of a Ralliart LSD and other bits and pieces).
When you open it up count the number of teeth on all the gears and both shafts and let us know. Also advise if they are single or double synchros. You have to open it before ordering new synchros and bearings anyway.

Does it have 4th gear Brian or is that gone too? If they are both gone it will be a broken hub I'd say mate.

Care to share?

I've got the vr4 FIA homologation paperwork in .pdf if you want to swap

ah ive got a hard copy, we got it with the our orginal Group N Evo 3.. i would scan it but its about an inch thick and all in french.. its really not that exciting..

one day ill get around to PDFing it..

Evo 1-3 are all out of homologation now anyway, so its kinda useless now.. you should be able to download the homologation docs for the later cars from Ralliart (here: http://www.ralliart.com/GRN/parts/vii.html) but its all group N now.. which is alot less exciting..

There was definitely a Ralliart dog box option, I've seen them before. I'll dig up some info I have on them on the weekend. I'm not sure what year, but there was also a magnesium cased box also, I believe it was also a dog box version. As someone mentioned, even hollinger made box's for them at one point, however you'd probably have better luck winning powerball than finding one. lol

Wow, Google is cool.

This is a dead thread revival from hell........ but...let's say someone was able to have obtained one of the above mentioned Xtrac 6sp H boxs'........... do any of you guys know where one would be able to find information on them? Was hoping to find some detailed info on assembly, although realize I might be better chasing people rather than a 'book' as such.

Any ideas??

It's all good to go on the '63 Jack. It has come of one in Portugal. Problem being is it is mainly disassembled. Need to do a stocktake on the parts and see what's missing if anything, then recon and reassemble. I have fired an email to Xtrac in the UK to see if they are interested in helping......... Not holding my breathe thou.

3000gt run a getrag

you can still get a box from Hollinger by special order, price is insane

there is a ralliart dog box on Brindabella for sale with the mag case and big drive shafts to suit the green hubs
