metal cat vs magnaflow cat..

Lol Harry.. that is the best solution!!

As for metal cat vs magna, the metal cat is supposably legal to use on the street. The magnaflow on the otherhand is RACE ONLY.

Apart from that, I believe they are much of a muchness.

Also if you have the choice of sizes, get the biggest one possible regardless of exhaust size. In this case, bigger is better!

yer bout the same sheiz, ones got a few % more flow then the other, but nothing to really worry about.....

i should be able to get you a cat cheaper then that, just a generic 3", although its the oval design not the round......

yeh go the cheapest, for the reason that for the power you put out, the extra % increase in flow you will receive isnt going to matter much anyway :)

FYI my car lost about 40kw's using a 3" metal cat.

It dropped from 340kw's at the wheels to 270kw's at the wheels with the only change being the cat and full exhaust.

We unbolted the cat and installed a racepipe and it made about 310kw's at the wheels.

But I believe my situation may differ, it really depends how much power / cfm you are flowing out of your motor also. If you are making low power, the probably won't effect you. Once you start making alot of power, you will start to choke the engine.

I bought the 3" Magnaflow, pretty happy with it. Just getting a Magnaflow muffler put on the back too

No dyno results as my cars never been on one!

get the cheapest and knock out the guts of it;)
I might try weld a 3"pipe through the middle of my cat, that way if a coppa knocks it the honey comb is still around the outside of the pipe. sounds solid :D
Good idea i got told a few days ago.

I find it pretty funny that one of them states dont risk EPA laws etc. The best cats for emissions are your normal ceramic core cats. Cats with metal catalysts are not as good for emissions, just that they last longer and flow more than the ceramic ones.
