hi guys.
ive stumbled across a microtech mtx-8 with handcontroller and loom to suit the vr4 (at the price im an idiot if i dont grab it). basically i want to hear from you guys that run a microtech more inparticular the mtx-8 if you have had any problems, what you can do with it, any good points etc.
i went to the microtech site, but they have NO information for the older mt series only the new lt series. thanks for anything.

are you looking relative to a 4g63?

if you just want general info on em, go to ausrotary or something. LOTS of the rotor dudes use them

i think microtech's run richier than most engine management from memory

im not sure if the MT series is what im thinking about, but the older Microtech ECUs were notoriously a PAIN in the arse to tune.

maybe thats why its cheap

well yeah, i will be fitting it to the RVR conversion. i might give it a miss then, i cant be arsed paying for extra time to get it tuned because its a bitch to tune. ill have a look and see wht i can find. thanks guys. does anyone actually run one on their vr4/gsr?

if you want something that aint going to bust your budget try a wolf 3D v4 plu? They are supposed to pretty good from what ive heard. Im pretty sure they do a PnP unit for early model evos/VR4s.

a lot of rotary guys run microtech's.... i dunno why....
the older microtech's that were carnts to tune were the digi series. some of them were tuned with a screwdriver.
the MT series got outdated by the LT series...
Maybe give a Microtech workshop a call and ask about them...
I think one of the issues with Microtech's are that the tuning increments are at every 500rpm's, so if you get a flat spot or something between the tuning increments, you can't do a whole lot about it.
Wolf's are tuned at every 125rpm.
If you really want a cheap ECU, maybe look for a Wolf 3D version 3.0
Rank, the guys that did my Wolf ECU told me about the Microtech when I was thinking about putting one in my RX7. (I found one cheap too) They said, be prepared to carry around a spare set of plugs with you for when you foul them all the time. They weren't fans of the computers at all.
I think Rank Rotary (Melbourne) can get them for about $600 or something, maybe cheaper.
Mildren Race Engineering in Adelaide are a Wolf dealer too, they might be able to get their hands on one for you.
If you really want to find out more about the Microtech, ring Microtech direct, I'm sure they have some info somewhere about the MT series, they aren't that old really!

thanks matress. ive opted against it. i wanna make the conversion legal. and by going through regency you have to run a stock ECU. so ill get it through and then ill have a play. but yeah i will probably go for Wolf, herad lots of good things about them and also Autronic.

the owner was too cheap to get a decient tune and spend the money on the time it needs

hey guys i have a Micro-tech computer in my car, its the lastest one out... i was going to get a turn on the car but no place except for one in the city will turn it... Its because of the Micro-tech computer... Any reason why they wouldnt... like is it not safe to have or whats the go... they hadent even seen the car n they still said they dont want anything to do with it... kinda sucks cause it has made me worryed...

COMPS

most of the guys ive talked to with 4g's run Autronic or Haltech's- but having owned cars that have had microtechs - i cant fault the computers themselves - once they are tuned properly the first time ive never had another problem with it.
