I think there may only be ONE in Australia!

It was for sale at that auto importers in Adelaide where Dre got his Cyborg from?

Unfortunately none of the "Kei Class" cars are ever volume imported into Oz.

It's a real shame, as the idea of a little all wheel drive turbo, like the Suzuki Alto Works, appeals to me too.

Thats cool as! Saw one on ebay for sale afew years back. I got to test drive a Suzuki Alto RSR Works 4wd bout 4 years ago! Kei cars rule but like some one already said you can't bring them over to Australia, Unless there 1988 or earlier that is.

Because the Australian government sucks:

http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/motor/sevs/index.aspx

Basically, no Kei class cars are currently on the SEVS list, and it's a long convoluted process to even make an application to have a vehicle added.

Even if you can find someone bothered to jump through all of the bullshit hoops, it almost always gets turned down, because the Government is in the pocket of Holden and Ford, who are terrified that "Grey imports" will destroy their profits.

Which is absolutely ridiculous, considering 99% of Falcadore drivers are redneck hoons who would NEVER buy a car with an engine capacity less than 6 cylinders and 3.5 litres, let alone a Kei Class car!!

There was one for sale here in adelaide earlier this year. I was going to buy it as I always wanted it however after I looked into replacement parts for it, it put me off.

heres a linky:

the owner might still wanna sell it...

You could always get one of these and stick a turbo motor in it!!

We're fighting hard for survival at Holden mate, the Government is actually making it easier for imports to be sold here and considering that overseas auto workers are paid peanuts the international manufacturers can afford to sell their cars at a dirt cheap price.

Lucky for us we have a market that still wants to buy and drive V8s (we're actually building and selling more V8s at the moment than we are V6s) which keeps us going.

My idea for a kei car was buy a Suzuki Cappaccino (bit $$$) or a late 90's local Suzuki Alto then import all the body kit, turbo motor, coilovers etc

I really like the minica for some reason, prob cause its a Mitsubishi lol. I have driven a cappuccino before freakish little 3cyl turbo rwd, awesome handling and very nibble through the corners...

I'm not against Australian companies or workers mate - in fact I'm all for them, and always support local manufacturers products over ones that are made overseas using slave labour & dodgey practices.

I also hate how the Australian Govt. rolls over and makes it easy for crap car manufacturers to sell their disposable cars here, because they're desperate to suck up to China.

"Great Ute of China" !? You've got to be shitting me!

I grew up in Elizabeth in S.A. where the main Holdens plant is, so I understand completely how important big Aussie manufacturers are for the local population.

I just wish they would move with the times and offer more variety in their lineups. Then we wouldn't have to look elsewhere for smaller capacity, all wheel drive turbos, would we?

Your comment that you're selling more V8's than V6's at the moment is a perfect example of how letting some smaller engine capacity "enthusiast" volume imports in like some of the Kei cars, wouldn't affect local car manufactur sales, doesn't it?

Not a Minica but on the same path this is for sale on ebay atm http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Suzuki-Alto-Works-AWD_W0QQitemZ160515343650QQcategoryZ35227QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5446907306450098915

OMG - Speak of the devil - my favorite Kei car!!

I reckon the Alto Works are the best looking Kei, especialy when you consider they're over 20 years old
