Ok so why im bored here at work i might try and ask a few questions regarding a few probs on my newly turboed galant gsr.

Ok first question is about my rocker cover, in my gasket kit i got a rocker cover gasket as well as the ones for the spark plug holes etc. Now i check today and i have a small pool of oil in the well where the spark plug cover goes over.
What could that be? the bolts are tight, fresh gasket yet it still leaks up onto their somehow?

Next problem is my oxy sensor, how do i get this off, is there a special socket or something as when i had the dump off in a vice i couldnt get it off with a ring spanner it was just too tight. I have a new one here very soon as mine is fucked and half the problem im using 20 l per 100k of fuel.

Next problem is my injectors, ill have some 450's in the next few days and i cant seem to remember if the injector resistor pack was needed for the 450's or just the 510s i put in, also a factor why my exhaust smells like a petrol station.

Now ive clocked up 500k or a bit more on run in oil and i need to change it, ive had no experience with oils and its seems these days there are lots of oil to choose from and i dont know which i should, suggestions would be great.

I was also wondering what a clutch will cost for a vr4 flywheel to hold 200kw atw as my aim for the car wont be above that.

Another question i have some twin pot calipers here and i was wondering if they will function normally with no ABS?

Keep it in the vice, soak it in penetrant for days. Use a combination spanner and use a maching size ring spanner over the open ended end. Be careful ( not to catch your fingers) and apply steady rising force. You would be supprised how much they get rusted over the years and how long it takes to penetrate. OH use crap brand spanners if you dont want the good ones potentially damaged ( if your not experienced enough to Double Spanner that is :lol: ) I use my good sidchrome ones to a great effect everyday :wink: Alternatively you could use a pipe over the top of the spanner to increase the lever length. Double the length, Halve the effort :wink:
 
ahah cheers for that, the problem is i dont want to take it off the car and drop the front pipe etc.. its my daily so yeh..
and im a fan of the pole ay, has gotten multiple crank bolts out for me :lol: as well as smashing cricket bats from the force trying to block the crank :D
 
Rocker cover = take it off again and use a thin coat of Permatex hi-temp black RTV silicon on both sides of the rubber.

02 sensor = I have some broken open ended/ring spanners from trying shit like that :lol: Try removing the 02 sensor with WD40 first and if it doesnt work then get some heat onto it like running the flame over it a few times and then loosen the bastard!

Injectors = I dont think 510's would have made that huge a difference. Maybe your 02 sensor is faulty and thats why you smell fuel and go through fuel real bad.

Oil = Dont open a can of worms!! :lol: Good to see someone doing at least 500kms on 30 grade mineral running in oil :) . As far as what oil to go to next I'd say fully synthetic Castrol Edge but then someone will say Motul Turbolite, then someone will say Penrite HPR, then someone will say...

Clutch = EVO 3 heavy duty organic clutch for a daily driver if you only want 200kw atw.

Calipers = Yes, ABS is not required and they work as they are.
 
sweet well i changed it to motul turbolite, wasnt to dear and read a few good things about it on the net..
painted my rocker cover again while it was off lol, did it white and painted the letters balck which contrasts really well with the red magnacores..
it seemed to rev alot more freely since changing it? i dunno..
 
Did you torque the rocker cover bolts up to spec, or did you tighten them normally? They should only be a bit more than snug tight. Any more and you risk crushing the gasket and cracking the rocker cover.

matt where did you get your o2 sensor from??? is it a vr4 one???

if anyone knows a cheap place with a single wire sensor please let me know:)

yeh mine is for vr4 91-92.
single wire ones im not sure about sorry..

yeh but atleast yours would boost hard if it had a gearbox, mine on the other hand :x

I'm a mecanic by trade and I've never broken a spanner doing that (but I've had some look like they might brake in 1/2). Just make shore there CR-v spanners and not the cheep Chinese ones.
