Hi all,

Just after everyones opinion on head gaskets. I finally pulled my finger out, went twin cam and 4AGZE and CA18DET rod combo in a 93 bottom end. I have arp head studs and am on the hunt for strong head gasket to suit.

Cheers, Ted.

Mls has a greater chance to leak. So ensure you prep the surfaces correctly.

What brand are you thinking?

Sorry guys didnt write the topic correctly, what brand mls gaskets are people using? Im a mechanic of 15 years and aware of whats required for the best sealing of mls gaskets. Block is decked and head is skimmed.

Ian im a tight ass haha the rods were free and the pistons cost me 100 bucks. This engine so far owes me 900 including headstuds and all machine work.

I was thinking factory mitsi mls Baz

I reckon factory is fine. My cometic has leaked.. Coolant passage to cylinder bore had most likely not sealed correctly. I'll be replacing with a copper gasket. But since reading up, quite common for cometics to do this. Mls mitsu has been recommended by many ....

Look into SCE. See if they have anything for your application.

I had 2 Cometics and they both leaked after a not real long. Went Permaseal and it was great. Especially when the price is similar to that of a Cometic.

What about running the motor dry; as in no coolant, only for a short period of course, allows the Gasket surface coating to seal better.

a stopper type mls gasket is the go, hks, tomei

copper are hard to seal but once you nail it are good
