MN Series Triton

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I still believe they are good trucks and this is the first triton I have seen with this problem. So what if u run out of pads in 15k how often do u replace the pads in the tme??? Just upgrade them like u would on the tme or gsr... if the pads wore out in 5ks Yeh mits might do something about it.

On another note if the clutch wore out in 50tho would u expect that to be warranted??? I hope not as its like a brake pad a wear and tear item... mits warranty is prob one of the best I've herd off... buy a dmax or Colorado and see how good they are with there warranty.....

Are you serious?

That has got to be the most facepalm worthy statement I have ever heard.

As I said before, it's not the first reported case of premature pad wear and to suggest that having rooted pads and rotors in a brand new car after 15,000ks under normal use is acceptable is just bullshit.

Chase you're out of your depth, go back in your hole. The facts are its a very common problem, and not being recognised as such by mmal. Until it kills someone, and their death is directly attributed to such they will give no fucks.

How many vehicles do you determine as a either a common or very common problem JB??? Because at a rough guess mits have sold around 30 thousand MN Triton's in the 2 and half years they been for sale so to me if 50 or 100 trucks have a problem that it is not a common problem if it was like 1000 + vehicles that would be common.

Scott i understand that you are pissed but complaining about a set $100 brake pads is a bit over kill...

Ummm did I stutter when I mentioned the rotors were fucked as well?.........yeah bit of overkiill complaining about that on a brand new car, little bit more than $100 to fix also, you being part of the countries dodgiest service division should be well aware of that.

Well sorry i missed that, im sure by now that u will not let any mits dealership work on ur car and im sure you could get a set of pads for 100 bucks. Machining rotors is only what 25-30 bucks each, but hey i work at the dodgiest service center (that u think anyway). There are quiet a few people that know me and also had there cars looked after by me including a few members on this very forum so please don't have a go at me when all im trying to do is help!

I am not having a go at you, when I say dodgiest service centre I mean every centre nationwide (which I guess would include yours).

No Chase you are not trying to help, what you are doing is stating that mitsubishi are in the right for rejecting a warranty claim for which I and many others agree is unreasonable component wear on a brand new 50k car.....hell even the service department and dealership manager agreed when I asked them if they would consider it reasonable if it was their car that had the brake wear, consumer affairs even agreed that it warranted further investigation if they deny my appeal against the refusal of the claim.

Now I don't give a shit if it's only happened to 2 tritons out of 30,000...to me that constitutes an issue, unlike the fact that MMA LIED to me when they said it was unique, as I know of several cases of early wear being reported through dealerships.

Fairly sure if it was your new 50k car or you were not an employee you wouldn't be sitting there spouting about how acceptable it is and how you will cop it on the chin and pay for new shitty mitsubishi pads that are obviously defective, one thing for sure that you are right about though is that I won't be giving another cent of my money to either a service centre or a dealership ever again.

End of the day it's not about the money of replacing the parts, the point is getting Mitsubishi to admit that it is not acceptable to lie to or mislead customers in order to get out of honouring a warranty claim that should have been accepted without question.

The facts are Chase, the car when purchased was 50k, it did 15,000k's of normal driving, and was in an un-serviceable state (i.e un-driveable). Is it unreasonable to expect a corporation to accept responsibility for their product and warrant it? I have seen these exact issues with ford focus's, and our falcon work utes. The focus with 13,000ks was replaced, the falcon ute (even though heavily over loaded at all times) had 20,000 k's was replaced as well. If its not a common issue, why don't mitsu act in good faith, and resolve the problem? It may have been only 1 build batch, however 15,000 k's for a set of pads and rotors is appalling. Had it been doubled I would be on the opposite foot, saying suck it up.

most pad manufacturers will warrant their pads for 12 months/24000kms at a minimum *against manufacturing defects* this is poor customer relations on mitsubishi's part. I have had my commodore for around 2 years now, when i got it I took out the 3 year extended warranty, whenever I have an issue I give them a call and they fix it straight away. I have had a clutch, slave cylinder, power antenna, water pump, air intake pipe and a couple of other things all covered under the warranty.

The trouble free motoring continues........

Blown power steering, I have a sour citrus like taste in my mouth atm :(

:( that suck big time Scott!

I hope it all works out in the end! Regardless of what has been said, its a fucking new car and they are a bunch of cocks if the dont want to provide adequate assitance to a long term customer!

This is what I just read:

I inspected the brakes when the car arrived home and the pads were down to around 1mm of remaining material and the rotors were badly scored and showed signs of hot spots.

Im going to chim in here as a mechanic for a mits dealer in newcastle.

Machining rotors is only what 25-30 bucks each

I'm guessing you didn't really mean it to be read this way, cause anyone that tried to machine out scores, then take off more to remove hotspots, wouldn't have much of a rotor left to machine by the end of it. Oh well, just hit the customer up for new rotors, what would they know anyway.

:p

FYI, My 2005 Toyota Prado, which is my tow car for my rally car (and for many years my trailer didn't have brakes), which also does a lot of city driving, has now done 90 000 kms, and still on the original rotors and pads. I will replace them all in another 10 000kms with the same genuine Toyota stuff cause I doubt any aftermarket manufacturer can get that sort of life from their product. Mitsubishi need to lift their game.

We also have a 2010 dual cab Triton 2x4 at work and I can't stand driving it. It is uncomfortable and handles worse than a 1970 F100. And which colour-blind twit thought red illumination at night is easy to see?
