Thinking of buying a seat of evo 8 mr seats (black and Grey) for my 95 gsr i know these dont bolt straight onto the evo 3 rails but i have no idea on how hard or easy it is to get them modified to suit.
Any one done this?
If it is going to be a mega hassle might just retrim evo 3 seats back to new condition or retrim evo 6 seats to make evo 3 interior scheme

a couple of extra hoels drilled in the support section should suffice but you gota get them re engineered

Doing this will make the seat sit too high, you really need to make custom rails, a mix and match between the EVO8 and the EVO3 rails

Contact DAN GSR50L, im sure he had EVO7 seats in his GSR once

Do the evo 6 seats sit high too?

No, EVO6 seats are a straight bolt in, the EVO7/8/9 seats have a narrower base, so custom rails need to be made

(Sorry for the late reply here...)

As seen here...

...I've got evo VIII seats fitted to evo III rails. Yes they are a bit higher, but believe me, for those of us 6' tall or more, its a definite improvement. Definitely more comfy. :D

Trick is to make the seats accept the rails, not the other way round.

After having fitted mine, I can say for certain that they are not narrower. If they were, you wouldn't be able to get the evo III rails to fit the floor pan after having fitted them to the seats.

They have however, a shorter length of base. Instead of having 6 bolt points (2 at the front of each side) they normally have 4 bolt points.

Reviving an old thread here but thought I would share how I installed evo 8 seats to my gsr using evo 3 rails.

First I removed the e8 rails, one side of the seat had spacers welded over the holes. I cut these off so the seat sat flat on the ground, I also removed the slider handle and chopped off the mounts for it.

Next you have to turn either the front or rear mounting hole of the e3 rails into a slot as the holes don't quite line up.

The rails then bolt on with no issue and when installed in the car I actually sat fairly low.

Not at the car now but will add picks here when I install the passenger side

about to do this when mine arrive, any pics of your progress when you did it ?

Hi guys,
I've just completed fitting my Evo 8 Recaro seat to an Evo 3 Recaro rail. The facts:

As above, you need to grind off the spacers and the adjustment rail mounts.

The Evo 8 seat mount points are narrower. Thus, you will have to space the rail apart by approximately 1 inch. I used a piece of galvanized steel from bunnings to do the job.

The Evo 8 seatbelt mounts to the rail; therefore, the seat has no hole to put your seatbelt holster. I used a piece of 90° galvanized steel from bunnings to do this.

I'll take some photos and upload them this week when I get to a computer.

I didn't have to space the rails?? What rails did you use? And if you use the evo 1-3 recaro rails the seatbelt buckle should bolt to them.

Same here...I just finished mounting evo 7 seats to early rails.
I just elongated the holes on each rail very slightly and bolted them on buckles and all.
I didnt need any extra steel or any of that other crap ??

Harley...for some reason I think you have gone about it the extremely hard way.
I simply removed the rails from the late model seats and ththeadjustment handle.
I then removed the rails including the seat belt buckles from the early model seats...elongated each mounting hole slightly and bolted them on...extremely simple and easy. No spacing or any of the mucking around you mention with extra bits of steel.....?

Well now I'm extremely puzzled.
Mounting the Evo 3 Recaro rails to the Evo 8 seat wouldn't bolt up to the floor of the car. It was too narrow by an inch or so. I'll take some photos soon to show.

Edit: Don't think the rail is actually out of an Evo 3. The description stated Evo 1-6 :\
