Modifing evo 8 seats to fit evo 3 rails

Its quite an easy job.

Yep definatly something wrong there, the rails just bolted straight up once I chopped the spaces off. Unless he is using aftermarket rails or something?

As khubner said, I daresay that's definitely what I've done. I'll have to do a bit more head scratching tomorrow I think. Sorry for the lack of pictures / general disappearance, busy trying to prep the house for the little one due soon.
Many thanks for the advice as well guys, I feel like only I could mess up such a simple job haha.

Edit: I did chop the spacers off, cut off the slider bracket, elongated the rail holes, and then bolted up the rail to this and it certainly doesn't line up. As far as I'm aware the rails are E3 Recaro driver's side as well. Quite puzzling.

Here's a (ok, rubbish focus) pic of one side of the seat, with my old E III rail on it. You can see I left the spacers on the base of the seat, as I kinda preferred the slightly elevated seat position.

Shows you how much shorter the stock rails are, compared to the base of the seat itself.

I also didn't elongate anything. I used the stock position rear holes on the seat base, then dropped bolts through the seat base to match up with the front holes on the rail itself.

Yep they were as long as the seat, the holes just needed to be slotted at the back

I used the stock rails off my III seats, and I even measured them against the Evo VIII rails. They are definitely shorter.

Bear in mind, I didn't 'slot' or elongate any holes. I've used the original rear spacers as mounting points, so my rail fitment is probably slightly further back than how you guys have mounted yours.

Once I'm back home from offshore, I'll take the seats back out and get some more pics. Then we'll see if they are indeed mounted in a different position.

Quite possibly.

However, you could always get equal length threaded spacers welded onto the opposite side of the seat base from the existing ones, if like me, you prefer the slight increase in seat height.

As is, these bolts are not for moving! Lol!

Of you ripping a seat out of the floor, you probably have bigger issues.
They only bolt them down tight so they can find you after.same reason you are allocated seats in a aeroplane

I can see where the previous comment is coming from though, as it is all to easy to do what I did, but make a complete bodge job of it using real cheap and nasty parts.

In that case, it's less ripping a seat off the floor, and more like just snapping a couple of points and having a floating seat...
