Yesterday's Motor Enthusiast Conference held at Eastern Creek Sydney between the ACMC, RMS (formerly known as the Roads & Traffic Authority of NSW) representatives, Minister for Roads & Ports Duncan Gay, plus various other motoring bodies and enthusiasts (over 100 attending the meeting alone wa spacked to capacity) was a positive outcome for all involved.
The governing bodies, politicians, industry representatives and enthusiasts were finally together to discuss matters regarding the industry, ADR's, National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Modications, several VSB's that have been debated over the last couple of years, DECC regulations, custom cars, engineering etc.
A number of questons were asked of RMS to which they are required to convene and get back to the Minister and representatives at a later date.
The day proved to be a great outcome for all involved. It did not end in an 'us against them' mentality, but in fact it promoted consultaton amongst all stakeholders and understanding the views from both sides of the fence to achieve fairness and common ground.
Props to the Minister Duncan Gay who is not letting the governing bodies chop and change the rules without the consultation and feedback from the Minister and industry representatives. But also for having the foresight to employ a distinguished member of the motoring enthusiast community to consult with and speak on our behalf in parliamentary matters that effect us.
Our voices have finally been heard
Im pretty sure there will be a media release soon.
