Hey everyone JP here

I've been MIA for about 5 years but im back now and it's good to be back :)

So the RVR is back up and running again after many years of having it hanging on the back burner.

Currently have a rebuilt motor thats done under 30xxx

Potentially has a ported head, not to sure tbh. Old mechanic who worked on this done me over and stole parts from the motor so cant be for certain if he took the ported head and put a standard one or left it.

Reconditioned Auto and strengthened By RVO automatics (bloke actually owns an rvr himself) under 30xxx

kinugawa TD05-20G under 30xxx also

Standard turbosmart BOV from autobarn.

2.5 or 3inch cat back not too sure tbh

Now that it's not on the back burner anymore im looking to put some more $$ into and make some power and enjoy it.

Looking at a turboback exhaust.
Do you guys think getting one made is better than buying a branded one??? If so links or suggestions would be appreciated heaps

ECU
Suggestions for a good ECU considering what I have
is the HSG ECU any good?
Or a later model EVO?
Also can they just drop in or is a c*&t of a job to do?

Still have the standard TMIC
Wouldn't mind changing it over for an aftermarket cooler to let it breathe better.

I'm not looking to make FULL HEKTIK OMG BABE DID YOU SEE DAT sorta power
But enough to make c*%ts snap necks and be like Wtf was that???

Would love to munch some yellow BT1-VLT's from the area off the lights and just see their faces as a soccer mum van punches past them hahahaha.

Also rvr is 25 years old now so im eligible for club reg.
Do we have a club?

Cheers once again and it's good to be back here

Good to hear you got the brick up and going again JP.
Personally I would say a fabricated divorced wastegate from turbo is the way to go. My RVR went sooooo much better when we did this, there is a science with this but I'm sure someone on here can give definitive reasoning. Be cheaper anyways.
Evo 6 onwards for ECU, plenty of write ups in the past about this. Not complete drop in but easily done and then it's tuneable. Will need MAF and injectors from whichever model the ECU came from.
Definitely fuck the TMIC off. Heatsoak will just rob all your grunt man.

Hey mate my rvr is at rvo aswell, but dave couldnt fix my auto at all, sighs and i have a built motor too

Update

Purchased
FMIC with pod filter set up
750cc injectors
EVO 7 ECU

Tryina find a MAF which i have but its off an EVO IX

Will a evo 7 ecu work with an evo 9 MAF?

What's wrong with your tranny?
If dave can't fix it then, sheeeeiiiitttt.

I feel like you're buying parts and building an overcomplicated Frankenstein of an engine, without just getting the correct bits to begin with.

Simplify things.

Do what was previously suggested and get rid of the MAF/AFM, hook up a generic GM temp sensor and run it near the TB in your intercooler piping, and run a generic 3 bar map sensor.

Tune and go.

Update
Ran into some extra cash so balled out a little

Evo 9 pistons and rods
Camtech 272's
Evo 9 beehive Springs and alloy retainers
Turbosmart 38 ml wastegate
ARP headstuds
RC racing 750cc injectors
FMIC no brand for now
Evo 8 AFM
EVO 7 ECU

Still too do:
some form of a brake setup
Power Fc
Coilovers
Turboback
FPR
Fuel Pump
Manifold
Trans cooler

Will probably end up rebuilding the motor again and the transmission
