Hi all

everytime I take this Verada on a hour trip it seams to start killing the coil pack (single), I have to pop the bonnet and let it cool the pack down and I can drive again

30 mins trips dont bother it, Has this happend to anyone?

or any suggestions on maybe how to stop it?

Thanks
Travis

isolate the coil packs from heat, try mounting them on a plate
with heat soak paste maybe?

or modify the crap out of it and run coil on plug with motec and twin turbos etc... and awd conversion while your there

coil risestor ?? does it match the coil?? and or change the coil to a oil filled unit.....

Im having the exact same problem at the moment in my CA lancer

I've swapped coils, power transistors, leads and plugs and it still fucks out,

I'm going to swap ECU's around before I look at maybe doing an AFM and distributor

DOUGMO- did you get my PM??

dre

that would be awsome

but I wil have to try move it to a cooler place, I will have a play this weekend

you should try it to dre

i have a spare resistor also, and I might put a new dizzy cap and rotor on also

my v-rod was doing that, i changed the coil and the distributor and now all is good, the coil is now mounted on the firewall aswell

Relocation does sound good- as that stooopid place where the coil is now on my CA lancer is crazy.

I replaced the rotor and distributor cap and the car is still farking out, ive been procrastinating about it for about 6 weeks now- at the start it would only fuck out every 30km or so (like what you were saying trav) but now it goes 300m before its dead

thats what happend to me the first time and it took me nearly 3 hours to get from Frankston to Preston

I might have to go the firewall too

I just ordered a genuine dizzy cap($90) and rotor button($32)

not to bad priced if you price over 16years..lol

fitted the new cap and rotor button, definatly worth the money and I also got a new Battery which has made it go much better, and all the electrics are working better to

does anyone know how to reset the ISC on a V6 1991 KR verada?

Im also going to clean out the throttle body this weekend, and get a new air filter

next after that is a timing belt and cam and crank seals

Im too fussy with these cars.....lol

after that I took it for a spin and it was still happining :x

got my mechanic to come down and with his gadgets he found it was the new coil lead was arking out :?

so I pick up a new one today

I also did the throttle body clean too

fingers crossed :?

Dude, i've replaced the ECU, AFM, coil, transistor, leads, plugs, rotor, cap and am now about to go outside and do the dizzy/distributor- if this doesnt work- i'm going to burn the fucking thing.

Haha, na its definately ignition related.

I just went to swap the distributors over, only to find out the one that I had to go to craigieburn to get is broken!!!

The arch where you losen the bolt to adjust the timing has broken off! I should have looked at it more clearly when I picked it up!!

I've almost had it with this car :x

the battery can cause ignition probs too, i didnt think it could till it happend in my other cordia

tested my lead

no good either

new coil tommorrow, my mechanic has already priced it for me because he knew I would call....lol

it suck when people sell dead parts  :x

There's LOTS of play in my old dizzy compared to the one I got to replace it

pulled it apart to find all sorts of metal and plastic shavings in it

it would have to be the prob then

mine is still playing up but came good after I replaced a fuel reg vac line

but I suspect the cat is blocking up the exhaust too
