need a cheap fix for my dump

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Ive got a stock 14b dump you can have for say 20 bucks.
Goes down to 2.5 inch though so if your exhaust starts at 2.5 and has a flange for that as most peoples would if they yun stock dumps or evo dumps.
Then flares to 3 your laughing.

I just bought a driven performance one. I'm getting a mate to bring it back so it worked out I only paid $130

That dump looks pretty nice dre. Is the material nice and thick or a bit on the thin side (prone to crack?). I had a look at driven performance a while ago, looked identicle to the ebay seller items, the angle they merge at ect.

What about punishment racing, i remember while back you were talked abou them as they were mild steel and wouldnt crack, didint you mate have one or something.

Now you've seen both personally, what's the pic of the bunch?

I havent actually got my dump yet- it gets here on saturday. tuffrice had the punishment racing dump- they look awesome.

thats the screamer pipe version, heres my actual one..
i think the angles are the same to match up with the stock one tho milkandoj,

it does look like its well constructed, its not that thick, but its not really thin either, so somewhere in the middle. Is it gonna crack? well we'll have to wait and see.

Heres the punishment racing jobbie in mild steel fitted to my car::thumbsup:

So you guys that went from and evo or vr4 stock dump. Can somone say if there was or wasnt a good differnce?
I fitted an evo 3 dump when i put the 16g on my vr4.
Worth swapping for one of these stlye?

Most the dumps i seen look like a simular where the wastegate pipe merges back into the main pipe, at a sharp angle, like the flow is aimed at the wall of the pipe not down the pipe and you exhaust.

Action dan dumps ive seen pics of merge more smoother angle and would blow the flow down the pipe insted of at the side and cause turbulance in that area. Work of art.

Ive always looked at them and wondered if in the real world it "actually"" makes a differnce.

long split dumps definatley make a difference, imo it should be well away from the turbo merging in on the straitest angle possible.
i had a ces split dump on my old r32 and the wastegate pipe was 3 foot long and improved spool up,boost and response quite a bit....well worth it.

i have a long split on the evo too:thumbsup:

People always seem to say the long splits are a pain in the ass to get off or if you flange it after the merge is it better.
I thought that was the main reason for going these smaller type of dump pipes, besides the cost.

Im sure the split would make a great differnece, have you been able to compare it to the stock evo dump?

I still want to hear from somone that went from an evo dump to these small split dumps like we been talking about, what was the difference? Ive wondered this for a LONG time lol

definitely a long split will perform better.
the only problem is, not many ppl would simply change their dump pipe, its usually done as part of the turbo 'package' hence you will get very little people with actual results.

yes the short ones are easier to fit but i thought your question was regarding if they were better or not?

i went from an enclosed cast dump that merged the wastegate and exhast gases together which will effect exhaust flow when the wastegate opens too.
this also decreases heat in the dup/rear of turbo area too.

unfortunatley there are not any off the shelf dumps that have a long split dump and are easy to fit(that i know of)
