Hey guys ...

It have been a while since I started thinking about buying a new fridge. Infact, it took me about 8 months now to decide (and yet it only took me 8 seconds to buy a turbo lol). So I have come to the decision that I'll get myself a new fridge as my new year present.

Now the problem I have is making decision. The thing is that I have 4 other people living with me (my gf and 2 other rooms rented out to 3 asian students). And the fridge I have seems to be too small for 5 of us. Espectially the freezer area, it as full as anything. And that is with some stuff are in my bar fridge in my bedroom.

I am trying to make decision between these 2 options:
1 - Get a side by side fridge (the one with 2 doors next to each other one is fridge and one is freezer) total around 400-500 litres ... its around $1200 - $1500.
2 - Get one full size fridge (320 litres) and another full size freezer (also 320 litres) and put them next to each other. it cost around $700 - $900 each.

If you guys are looking to buy a fridge, which one will you choose???

I'll look forward for your opinion.

Thanks

I'd buy whatever fit into the kitchen!

What do you guys have in the freezer to pack it up so much!?!?
Just clean out the current one and buy a new ECU for the car =)

I worked at the clive peeters warehouse before and seen all sorts and sizesof fridges, surprisingly they they seem to get new models all the time just like mobile phones(not as bad) all are different size, some double door, some singles are bigger than doubledoors, theres ones whith freezer at bottom or normal at top etc... so your probably better off taking some measurements and seeing a sales rep. You should think of getting a bar fridge they are very handy for all the drink bottles.

lol ... don't get the ECU idea into my head now ... otherwise I will never get a new fridge.

Here are the example of the things we have in freezer (there are only 2 shelves in the freezer): Frozen chips & wedges, 3 tubs of icecream (only 1 is mine and my gf), fish fingers, meat balls, chicken nuggets, seafood mix, bbq chicken wings, beer battered fish, frozen japanese noodles, frozen salmon, frozen eel and mixed vegetables. Those are just examples (note that its not only my food but also other housemate food) ... So new fridge is the way to go ...

ok

Inlaw have a side by side..
They are good because the freezer is rather spacious and can fit quite a bit, The fridge side is spacious aswell BUT you can not fit larger items into it as its not as wide.

Uncle has the 2 x fridge/freezer idea. Works really well. You have the best of both worlds BUT, you need a large cavity to fit that mofo in. They also have a wine fridge so 3 fridges side by side..

I however have just the single large fridge, fridge top, freezer bottom.. 500+ litres. works ok.. Freezer has 2 draws and a shelf at the top. Its ok for the two of us.

What ever you do, don't buy an LG anything. They are really bad quality (LG = Lucky Goldstar, look it up)
Good luck

Just buy another fridge so then you have two fridges then if you run out of freezing space cant go past a chest freezer.

Thanks for that ... infact I was thinking of getting LG at the first place but I have also heard many negative comments about thier appliances from many people too ...

I want to get rid of the old fridge, it been with me too long now. The seals starting to break too. Chest freezer would be good idea but will look funny in my kitchen.

I'm going to Harvey Norman this weekend, hopefully there are going to be a big discount so that I'll have spare cash left to my ECU hahaha

Ok .. I screwed up big time .. I gonna have to lower my budget for the fridge to anything no more than $1200 as I decided to buy a new set of coilovers .. Going to look for fridge this weekend .. hopefully there are some decent one around for that price ..
